Will Quenville be coaching in the NHL next season?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

He wasn’t given a lifetime ban so I don’t personally have the expectations of a lifetime ban. I think it’s reasonable for folks to have a long punishment if they’ve been in the wrong, but then serve that punishment and be able to move forward from it. The nhl is a bit weird: it would be odd to hire him perhaps as an assistant. Would you be giving your current coach the impression that they’re about to be replaced? But since Q has been gone so long you’d maybe think some time in an organization besides going straight to head coach would be good for everybody. I think it would make sense for him to be an assistant somewhere similar to what Jim Montgomery went though. Also makes sense for him to go somewhere the HC has 3+ years of term or is interim, but a lot of the places with guys with 1-2 years would maybe be awkward.

He may be cleared to return but it seems like most teams don't want any part of him, because he would be a PR nightmare to try and sell to your fanbase as well as the unwanted media attention.
I agree with this. Just because he’s “cleared” by bettman, people in the league really don’t want to deal with the baggage. Trevor Bauer was cleared by the mlb and no one will touch him.

Quennville doesn’t need money, and he is not going to be an assistant for a pittance. It’s either HC or nothing.

I assume your moral compass and you stopped watching the NHL when Bowman was back in. Chevadale didn't get a slap on the wrist.
Some moral compasses include second chances.
Cheers

S in their 60s shouldn’t need second chances. That’s who they are.

Just more proof that the NHL is an old boys nepotism club. There are hockey teams, players and coaches all over the globe but the NHL just keeps hiring these same old white guys over and over again.

Why not bring literally ANYONE else into the NHL? Maybe a SHL coach? or someone coaching really good high school hockey? Maybe a that dude at the laundromat that actually separates his colours and his whites, maybe he can fix your powerplay?

Please stop recycling these same assholes over and over.
fukn right, how bout a black coach? Why not a Chinese guy?

New coach of the Oilers after an early exit and rough start next year
This makes a lot of sense. The Oilers window is as long as McDrai are around. That could be as long as one more season. If the Oilers have an early exit I wouldn't be surprised to see Bowman bringing in a coach so he can have "his guy" behind the bench and Quennville has cup winning experience.

The Oilers also love to bring in controversial people into the organization for some stupid reason 🤮.

compensate got the many that flat our refuse to come?

Boston ,and Edmonton have never shyed away from controversial acquisitions.
Still attacking Bruins I see.How about your beloved SCABS drafting that kid Mallioux late in 1st round when teams were clearing staying away from the little pervert .

They old boys club of the NHL and constant re-cycling of coaches, I wouldn't be surprised if someone gets desperate enough. I personally don't think it's worth whatever baggage he brings, fair or not. Surely what Joel did is worse than Mike Babock right? Find new creative blood.

Lol. I never attacked any team. Duh.
I'm the one who started this thread. Did ya even read it?
I think Q should be back coaching. And I applaud the Bruins and Oilers for never shying away from controversial signings.

Also I ripped Bozo Bergevin in Montreal for that (and countless other bone headed moves.) Called for him to be canned for years. Predicted he'd leave the Habs in a epic mess the likes of which they've never seen before.

Relax man, or atleast try little comprehensive reading before you start spewing next time.

Cheers

No. He's done. That's my guess.

You show me an owner who wants that headache and I'll show you an organization that is going nowhere fast due to mismanagement.
