He wasn’t given a lifetime ban so I don’t personally have the expectations of a lifetime ban. I think it’s reasonable for folks to have a long punishment if they’ve been in the wrong, but then serve that punishment and be able to move forward from it. The nhl is a bit weird: it would be odd to hire him perhaps as an assistant. Would you be giving your current coach the impression that they’re about to be replaced? But since Q has been gone so long you’d maybe think some time in an organization besides going straight to head coach would be good for everybody. I think it would make sense for him to be an assistant somewhere similar to what Jim Montgomery went though. Also makes sense for him to go somewhere the HC has 3+ years of term or is interim, but a lot of the places with guys with 1-2 years would maybe be awkward.
