honestly, there are some people where you have to channel Field of Dreams here.
if you don't reply to them, they'll go away.

this doesn't mean that Mitch should be absolved from criticism, but y'all know sometimes it's better just read and let it go, vs. trying to get a response that is coming from a legitimate debatable point of view. (as in you can see why they are there even if you don't agree).

If JVR and Bozak could score on the many many tap in chances that Mitch has
given them he would have 20 points this year and be on an 80 point pace,

Watch the games - he makes something happen out of nothing. Watch our power play when he is on, everyone passes him the puck - he drives the power play but yeah Babcock doesn't like him because some poster who thinks they know everything said Babcock didn't want to draft him. What nonsense will these haters come up with next.

Minus Mitch is actually Thewave. They have the same agenda and same posts. No doubt in my mind he created another account because he was being called out on the Marner Bashing.

I remember in the first game last year, after Matthews scored 4 goals, Babs came out and said he thought Marner was the best player on the ice. Babs loves Marner and absolutely sees his potential

Great response TM... but at this point I disagree. His skating isn't elite, his puck handling isn't elite, and his passing isn't elite at this point. I think he does all of it well... to very well, but maybe that is what makes him a star? He doesn't have any glaring weakness?[/Q

If that's not elite skating what is????

Slow starter Marner WAS a minus-10, now he's a minus-2. When he's back to +/-0, will you change your name, Minus??

I think Marner will be a Top 10 player from his draft class of 2015.

So Leafs do have a good one in that regard.
I'd like you to elaborate on why you're not confident enough to label him as a top-5 player.

Top 10 meaning he is among the Top 10 of his draft class. That means he could be #3 or #9 or somewhere in-between when the dust settles.

Top 10 candidates of 2015 draft include (McDavid, Eichel, Barzal, Provorov, Werenski, Marner, Boeser, Aho, Connor, Rantanen) at present with Strome, Hanifin, Chabot, Konecny etc as HM on the outside of that group amoung others .

Time will tell how retrospectively this draft class turns out, but I'm comfortable suggesting Mitch will be in the top 10 group.

Interesting that you put the names in that order. I suspect that's how you would rank them as of today, am I wrong? That would mean you have him as 6th right now.

I think you've always rated Barzal a bit too high and Marner a bit too low but you're right, time will tell.

When we look back at their careers Marner will rank right after McDavid for this draft class, IMO.

Well when you see things like this it makes me think of McDavid Jr. ;) .. Check out these wheels and goal ..

Mathew Barzal Highlight Reel Goal vs. Devils

He also had 5 assists in a game last week setting a new NYI all time record, and was named NHL player of the week (Nov 6th) and he currently leads all rookies in scoring with 19 points in first 20 games (2017-18 NHL Hockey Stats and League Leaders - Points - National Hockey League - ESPN).

So he is off to a great NHL start.

PS. He is going to give Marner a run for him money, as both should have promising NHL careers.

That was a thing of beauty, no two ways about it.

You can bet your lucky stars that Barzal is going to hit the rookie wall, I'm gonna guess around the 40-game mark, things are going to get much harder for him. He's not equaling Marner's 61 in 77 rookie season.

I love how on the main boards any leaf player needs at least 3 seasons to get past the small sample size argument. But Barzal can play 20 games and be instantly be labeled a superstar.

I agree with this. Barzal will have trouble scoring in the NHL. He will get assists but he wont score a lot of goals though. I mean 10 goals in the WHL is pretty terrible. Marner is still the much better player, and Barzal will have a worse rookie season.
Like I said, Barzal is like a mini Marner.

The sample size argument gets completely disregarded when said player isn't wearing a Leafs jersey. They were also saying Clayton Keller could top Matthews rookie season.

You mean like when someone makes a ton of posts but contributes nothing to the discussion?

I agree with the theory. Marner's a very good player though and his contribution is substantial.
I would not bother as it is one of many profiles this poster has and he will attempt to get you to get personal and he will report you.

To add to your post Marner has contributed to wins...shoot out winner and assist on winning goals.
