Well.. Everyone's favorite, little superstar was practicing with the 4th line today. Babcock sending a message.. The press box will be the next step. The kid really has no idea how to be a pro.
They should make Andersen a player coach, or at least captain.

He sees everything on the ice. He knows the score.

Was Andersen breaking stuff in the Leafs dressing room after that loss? He should have.

Easy to kick a kid when he's down. All the critics here will claim to have always believed in him when he's
back playing well.

Cmon, more than half of this board trashes Babcock, polak, leo, hyman, kadri, gardiner, bozak, jvr dont be so sensitive, just because Mitch maybe overwhelmed at the moment.

This is a learning year for the boys. Mitch will come through. He has a great attitude and work ethic and he will come out of this as a fantastic player. Babcock is just trying to help shape him to become a responsible player that can play the big minutes when it matters.

Sadly, he will never become a star player under the Babcock regime.

Doesn't really feel like Babcock's holding him back too much. His problem is physical immaturity and an immature approach to the game. His "magician" approach is just not the most effective way to be playing the game.

He'll be fine. He's just got to make adjustments to the adjustments the rest of the league made to him after last season. Barzal and Boeser are gonna have the same thing happen to them next year.

If by adjustments you mean learn how to play a more effective "dump and chase" and win puck battles game, because I can't see opposition coaches and defenses played against him to make him less dangerous/effective changing anytime soon.

Smaller skilled offensive rush style players will need to change their games to adapt to a more NHL style pro game and find ways to play in traffic and win board/puck battles to be successful.

To be a "STAR" he will need to do it at a high level and consistently against all types of defenses the opposition throws at him.

Dump and chase isn’t more “effective”......

He is still just a kid, holy crap man! People need to relax on the Marner trade talk and bust nonsense. He is so young and very much still developing, he will be a great player in the very near future. Patrick Kane didn't just jump into the NHL and dominate the league it took a couple of years too. Marner will be fine just like Kane did

He will become one, it's just a matter of playing a more mature game and shooting more. His unwillingness to shoot has made his offensive game become far too predictable.

love him but he's a dumpster fire this year...
Along with Gardiner he's been the most disappointing.

He's young. He looks best playing with Martin this year oddly. Maybe his body is telling him less is more right now. Hat's off to Babcock putting him back out on the PP after that shorthanded goal. Everyone looked lost on that one. He just needs to play carefree energetic hockey like he can and let his instincts take over #use-the-force-Mitch

I really liked the way he answered the post-game question about playing on the 4th line. He didn't say the usual things about working hard and playing himself back into a bigger role but rather made positive remarks about his linemates and that they could become one of the best 4th lines in the league. He is embracing his current role even though it is obviously not what he wished for.

most the elite skills are there, just gotta keep getting better on the defensive end making better decisions, handle the physicality better, and keep working on that shot cause it needs to get a lot better and heavier...20 year old 170ish pound kid, so much time to get there
