I watch the games ... he has 3 goals and 17 assists at even strength in 46 games on a heavily sheltered offensively deployed line.

(8 even strength primary assists in 46 games)
Not fine.

Marner is fine as is
You say fine.

I see no benefit coming down hard on Marner.
He's a lanky little kid playing with men.
Maybe he benefits from being in the NHL ... learning where he needs to be in a few years. I do worry he is going to get injured.

No one is harder on Marner than he is on himself. He's been elite all his life and there is no reason why that won't continue in this league.

Marner needs a complete reset. There’s very little about his game that’s working lately.

man what did marner do for 4 month in the summer...after his year 1, most if not all would say he needs to get stronger and work on his shot all summer...then he comes back and hes just as soft, and that shot looks like it got worse

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say he shies away from contact? Meaning he should be absorbing contact.

The guy plays like he has an iPhone X in his pocket and doesn't have Apple Care. When you see a defender barrelling down on him, he just goes into hot potato mode with the puck. Don't know what happened to his elusiveness.

Can Marner be sent down to the AHL this year? I think he needs to develop being strong on the puck on a team other than the Leafs.

Do you watch the games at all? It is a serious question. Marner battles for pucks all over the ice.

He leads the team in take aways by a good margin people talk out of their rear ends about all the turnovers yet give him no credit for getting the puck back and he is the best player on the team in that regard and is a plus 18 in gw/tw.

Another FYI he has more hits then Mathews.

My god you’re right, he’s Datsyuk.

The hits comparison points out exactly how cherry-picked and situational a stat can be. In other words, misleading.

You can’t say that because it means you don’t watch the games. Marner leads the team in TKAs and has more hits than Matthews. He’s a defensive, physical force out there, right?

Right??

I think Marner is trying to do much...he needs to simplify his game, especially being mindful of when he should gamble and when not to...I think he'll be a star in this league...kid will grow up...honestly, he still looks like a teenager out there...watch out when he becomes a man and gets his man strength...same with Willy and Auston, still boys out there...once they become men, watch out!

Should have drafted the defenseman.

Wasn't Hunter very high on Provorov?

Marner is a great pick and the BPA in comparison to Provorov.

Just needs time in the A and some conditioning. Does that he’ll be tearing up this league.

But hey, he had more TKAs tonight than GVA’s right? Doesn’t matter if his GVA was directly responsible for the goal.

Well.. Everyone's favorite, little superstar was practicing with the 4th line today. Babcock sending a message.. The press box will be the next step. The kid really has no idea how to be a pro.
