Oh. LolJust in the playoffs I meant when nobody was generating anything

Then our definition of depth isn’t the same. Muzzin has scored between 5-10 goals every year of his career. He’s not counted on offensively. Gets no powerplay time and mostly d zone starts on the middle pairing. That’s literally a depth player.I don't consider 20 minute a night players as "depth"
Sandin & Thornton got a PP goal each
Galch, Engvall, Foligno, Simmonds, Brooks, Mikheyev & Kerfoot combined for 1 goal.
You are correct that the top end forwards (aside from Nylander) didn't perform, and I would also say the depth forwards (aside from Spezza) didn't either.
Marchment says hi.I feel like Dubas likes to make deals more than most Toronto GMs I'm the past.. he may even turnover things too quickly. He seems to be always be on the look out for a diamond in the rough too... ex Malgin, Petan.
Campbell trade while in SOO show he's not afraid of crazy trades.
Marchment says hi.![]()
Better than what he was traded for though. He has 13 career NHL points. Not sure I'd call him a diamond just yet
We have so few physical prospects why trade him at all?He has 13 career NHL points. Not sure I'd call him a diamond just yet
He's not though.Better than what he was traded for though.
How can Brodie be a depth player? He’s on the 1st D pairThen our definition of depth isn’t the same. Muzzin has scored between 5-10 goals every year of his career. He’s not counted on offensively. Brodie plays a lot but again, no powerplay, no goals. If you want to exclude them go for it. I stick with them being depth players.
No he's overpaid period.Agree. But only Because he doesn’t produce in the playoffs. But if he maintained the same ppg In The playoffs we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
Dubas: Fairly simply, I understand that some may look at it and say this group hasn’t gotten it done, thus why there has to be changes. For better or worse, I believe in this group. I believe that they are going to get it done and that they are going to win.
I understand that this comes with certain doubt because we have not broken through in the playoffs, but it is my belief that they will. I believe in them as players. I believe in them as people. I know that the decision lies on me and the risk is for me in going ahead that way.
I am comfortable with it. I believe we are going to see the best version of this group next season that we have seen yet. I am willing to bet everything on that.
The balls on this man pretty much saying, I won't trade anyone and if you want any of them traded you will have to fire me. Might be a mistake but I respect the balls and willingness to win his way.
Lets see if it cost him his job at the end of the season.
We're absolutely STACKED with 7th rounders.
Way to go Dubas!![]()
We seen from lots of successful teams sometimes you need a minor shake up but will this gm even try it? I mean one the top 4 or a D not trading away 1st or 2nd round picks or career minor leaguers.
The 5 year deal showed he wasn't sure about staying. Naming JT captain ensured it won't happen. And MLSE just let a rookie GM waste the best opportunity this franchise has had in decades. It's comical that our best shot at keeping Mathews may very well be Justin Bieber.

I was convinced after the Habs loss I'd be watching hockey again cause Dubas would surely get canned. Another year of no hockeynot worth my time with this dumpster fire
That's not true at all. Matthews agreed to a 5 year deal (the most common post-ELC term in the cap era for a player like him) so that the team could be kept together. The 5 year deal showed he wasn't sure about staying.

No that's what he said to make it look like he didn't sign one if the most player friendly contracts ever. That's not true at all. Matthews agreed to a 5 year deal (the most common post-ELC term in the cap era for a player like him) so that the team could be kept together.

The team hasn't been kept around despite his "generousity" in taking 11.634 x 5 vs whatever he wanted in 8.
We had to move kapanen, AJ, Kadri and lost Gardiner, Andersen, Hyman via UFA with Rielly potentially joining that list
Matthews should have gotten 11.634 x 8. He was delusional in requesting that on a 5 year term and if we had a semi comptent GM he would have actually done his job and told him that he isn't worth that on a 5 year term and conducted a proper negotiation
