Who tf is Jaxon Castor? Looking at his EP page, he's got EBUG-level stats.
He was signed to a minor league deal last year when there were some injuries in Wheeling. He actually did well enough that he got an AHL contract again this year and has been hanging around WBS as the third goalie/practice goalie.

I wish they would move both Gauthier and Murashov up. Gauthier is only 23 and has had better numbers than Murashov in the ECHL. I know Murashov is younger and has higher upside but I think Gauthier deserves a run in WBS too over a guy like Jaxon Castor.

Gauthier actually has much better ECHL numbers than Castor too.

Well, they've had Blomqvist and Larsson in the AHL this year, and both have played well. Goaltending is the one area where the Pens have a fair amount of hope.

I know but i dont get Castor being there at all and hope he is bump for the others
Castor was serving as the third goalie behind Blomqvist and Larsson. He was basically an EBUG.

He was only in uniform last night because Jarry hadn't cleared waivers yet and Blomqvist was on his way to Pittsburgh. Depending on Larsson's injury, Murashov or Gauthier may be promoted to the AHL.

But WBS doesn't play again until the 24th, so there won't be any roster movement for a little bit.

By the way, additional info from Taylor Haase regarding where Jarry can be assigned:
Just putting a note here because some people have legitimately asked: No, Tristan Jarry isn't going to end up in Wheeling. It's in the CBA that players not on entry-level contracts have to give consent to being assigned to the ECHL and that's obviously not happening. Regardless of the rule, he'll have the opportunity in the AHL to try to earn his way back, they're not just trying to bury the guy.

Bah. This bad penny is just gonna keep turning up, then.

Call me stupid all you want, but I feel like waiving Jarry basically eliminates the chance of this happening. This feels like a hard breakup even if they can't officially move on from him until the off-season.

Even if Jarry plays well in WBS, I genuinely can't see a way he ever plays a game for the Penguins again. Even if someone gets hurt, I think they'd call up Larsson first.

Yeah, I think Haase might be off base there.

If he plays exceptionally well in WBS, it's more likely Dubas will try to trade him, try and convince someone to bite on the change of scenery idea.

Agreed. They're sick of him.
