Chucky is a waiver fodder quality NHL player at this point. Marat K not beating him out for a spot in the KHL is a little concerning.
They know Khus is leaving after this season, while Galchenyuk is on a 2-year deal. This shouldn't matter for a team that wants to ice the best roster to win games, but that doesn't seem to be the case with KHL usage for whatever reason.

A 21 year old prospect that's set to leave the KHL getting less ice time than an older veteran is the least concerning thing I've encountered all week, and I'm on vacation where there aren't any concerns.

I think this logic may be fine in broad strokes, but I don't think this logic quite works when speaking about specific players who are at different points in their careers. For instance, Mayhew was a way better AHL scorer than Brandon Duhaime, and probably still would be today if they were both still there, but Duhaime became the better NHL player and is near equal offensively at that level.

Mayhew is 5'9" 170 lbs, and Duhaime is 6'2" 200 lbs. It's not scoring skill that got Duhaime into the NHL.

Small FWDs (players in general) need to be much better than everyone else to even get a real shot in the NHL. Anas, Mayhew, Petan, and Schroeder (to name just a few) are/were all excellent AHL players and if they were 6'1" and not 5'9" they would probably all have had nice NHL careers.

Marat K is also 5'9" (according to the KHL) and there is 0 incentive for him to come to North America if he's going to be a fulltime NHL player (AHL pay is junk compared to what he's making in the KHL). Not being better than a waiver quality FWD isn't a ringing endorsement.

It's no different to me than if Steel was sent down last year and took Rossi's 1C spot in Iowa last year.

If it's no different than Steel and Rossi to you, I'm not sure there is really any point furthering this discussion. There are clearly differences you're unwilling to see.

That sounds really nice! You didn't even give any details except "vacation" and "no concerns" and I still found myself craving it. Apparently, I really need a vacation.

Why is one team representative of the entire KHL?

How about Yurov getting more ice time than last year, despite his team knowing he’ll be gone next year? Or Kaprizov playing a boatload of minutes the final year of his contract?
Perhaps Khusnutdinov was just outplayed in practice.
I know it’s an easy go-to, but not everything is a conspiracy.

Khus would be a near ppg guy if he was playing a real role. There’s going to be a lot of postering to try and get him to resign.

Yurov went from fourth line duties to third line duties, so he's still not getting top minutes, and he's not yet as good or proven as Khusnutdinov, AND he's playing for Magnitogorsk, a small market team halfway to Siberia

Kaprizov was the best player in the league by a lot, he's going to get a lot of minutes regardless because CSKA wants to win. SKA also wants to win, and Khusnutdinov is not anywhere close to the level of player Kaprizov is

It's not the same situation at all. SKA can afford to play politics, CSKA could not afford to play politics with Kaprizov because of how good he is/was (but could with a lesser player like Yurov or Khusnutdinov), Metallurg can not afford to play politics

What? Magnitogorsk is a KHL juggernaut. KHL budgets come from sponsorship in which they are at the high end of.

And your telling me Yurov and Khusnutdinov chose to forgo signing with the Wild to sign with KHL teams they knew would **** them over? Does that make sense to you? Either your assessment is off, or your prospects are dumb as rocks. Oh wait, I forgot the most obvious reason. Russia threatened both at gunpoint and forced them to sign. Am I doing this right?

I’ll believe what Yurov said instead. He needs to get better and earn his place on Magnitogorsk before he considers the NHL. SKA is also much deeper at center than they were last year when Khusnutdinov was thrust into the 2nd line role due to injuries.

Not everything is a nefarious conspiracy. Yall are watching too much Rocky IV.

I didn't say it was all a nefarious conspiracy, drop the straw mans arguments. But it's just as stupid to proclaim there's nothing besides hockey going in a league that is notorious for being political at times. Ultimately no one knows how much influence comes from the politics aspect and how much comes from the hockey side. You're talking out of your ass just as much as anyone else.

Blues fan coming in peace. I recently moved to MN and noticed the Blues will be joining the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase this year. All I’ve found is that the Wild will be hosting but where specifically will this be held and how would I go about buying tickets? Thanks!

Likely will be at the TRIA practice rink in St Paul. Tickets were free last time, but only offered to STH & newsletter subscribers: MINNESOTA WILD TO HOST TOM KURVERS PROSPECT SHOWCASE AT TRIA RINK | Iowa Wild

Newsletter subscription: Minnesota Wild Subscription Center

If they make it exclusive to STHs, I’d be willing to reserve them on my STH account & send to you.

I am not sure if they have adjusted anything, but I believe it is at Tria rink, and in the past it was free and open to the public.

Edit, Spurgeon beat me and in better fashion!

All I need to do to get free tickets to see the Wild's prospects live is to sign up for a free newsletter?

Hopefully someone else here can keep me updated on how they look.

They also stream it on the Wild youtube and the stream stays up so you can watch after the fact too.

All of this comes with the caveat that media stuff could be weird to start this year. And Bedard may change production values. In previous years it was pretty barebones and the media team knew they were pretty much only broadcasting to the die hards. Made for a pretty insightful experience.

The showcase really hasn't hit the ground running yet. Last year it was just a CHI/MN 2 games series in CHI for the prospects (CHI had the broadcast duties). The year before that (still dealing with some COVID aftermaths) is was CHI/MN prospects in MN for 2 games.

So far the showcase been a far cry from the prospects tourney they used to go to in DET. Getting a 3rd team (STL) is a good thing this year.

I’ll jump into the “not worried” camp.
Yep, super excited for 2024-25! Yurov, Ohgren, Khusnutdinov all coming to the NHL at the same time with the potential of creating an entire new skilled 3rd line. Obviously high chance some are going to the AHL but its just exciting to think, if all goes well, there's a possibility of a whole talented line for less than 3mil.

That’s incredibly nice of you. As the details come out and I see if I can actually make it work schedule-wise, I’ll let you know. Thanks for the details.

Side note: I’m moving from Des Moines. I can say the Wild run their minor league team incredibly well. The Stars and Ducks previously had their teams in Des Moines. Both were gong shows. The Wild owning their own AHL affiliate is very smart of them IMO and they run it top notch.

Looks like it’s open to the public. You’re able to reserve tickets here: https://am.ticketmaster.com/wild/23TKShowcase

Thank you! Just got tickets for me and my two kids to go Fri and Sat night. At least I think I did. I got a confirm email but then clicked on “Manage Tickets” in the email and it says I don’t have any tickets to any upcoming events. But maybe that’s how it works for free tickets? Idk.
