I really hope Telegin puts together a great season in St. John's. He's got a great motor. I wonder what a Kane-Schiefele-Telegin line might do? Could be fun to watch for a shift or two in a preseason game.

That Morrissey kid is going to be great if this game was any indication. LOVED Kane's attitude there in trying to get Medvec to answer then throwing a pretty gratuitous hit on Nino after Medvec wouldn't bite.

also have to say i appreciate your fans' support of the team in the arena. had the situation been reversed and the wild were flubbing a pp down 3-1 in the third the X would have been booing like crazy.

GG see you saturday

Won't take long till you'll likely end up hating Kane. Just how it works.

Hey, i can hate and admire at the same time! Already have him and Bogosian picked out as the "villains" on the Jets.

After another solid game by Morrissey and then watching his interview, there is no doubt this kid will be a pro. maybe not this year, but sooner rather than later. I'd be surprised if the Jets didn't reward him with a ELC before sending him back to Junior.

I no its only pre season, but I don't like how with the roster we dressed we just lost to a pretty weak team talent wise, no disrespect. Hard working, good young players. But to beat an NHL team. I am hoping it is just the fact its young guys, fighting for jobs, against a team full of guys that have spots.

I am not happy with Noel, get your lines together! Its time to build chemistry, pre season or not, that kind of stupid stuff will hurt us come game 1.

LLW
KSS
Hali- Jokinen- Frolik
Tangradi- Slater- Wright

Can we please go with that. All I ask is at least the last 2 games like that. Just because guys are struggling in pre season doesn't mean you start benching guys and putting guys that won't play top 9, on top 2 lines.

Now on to the game:

The good: Scheif- Please put him back with his line.
Little- He was well, Little, hard work, smart, great in the face-offs, finished on his chance. Could have been better, still shaking rust.
Buf- Couple early season mistakes, but hit a lot, good rushes.
Morrissey- Looked pretty good.
Kane- -3. But 10 hits?? 7 shots. Guy wanted it tonight. Too bad he had no one to play with? Wake up Noel.

The bad: Jokinen- ???
Wheeler- Pre season, not worried.
Setoguchi- Invisible, falling all over the place. Just not a strong showing this game.
Pardy- Enough said, time to head to the rock.
Redmond- Thought he was pretty bad tonight. Still deserves another shot. But Postma is winning the fight in my opinion after his last game.

Couple of players that did not do much but I thought were ok: Halischuk, Wright (stone hands aside) Ladd ( looked better, still some rust to shake though)

On a side note: I loved the hitting. I think we are just struggling to find chemistry, Noel has to start getting the right guys together. But I loved the intensity, some of the guys played like playoffs were on the line in pre season. Lots of hitting and rough stuff. Thats the way we have to play this season, obviously just better in everything else

The More-I-see the More-I-like  Oddly, and I know it was a message, but I actually liked the Kane-Shief-Peluso line. I never would have thought of that but it weirdly made sense to me and it seemed to work.

MSG to the Jertz - get angry in the first period when the score is still nil nil instead of the third when you're down by two mmmkay?

Terrible, disappointing mess of a game.

Apparently, this team can't hold a lead against ahlers and they can't mount a comeback against ahlers.

But...it's only pre season and there's all sorts of time to get this group who've been playing together for three or four years more familiar with making passes to each other...

Lol, you're not living up to your username.

Scheif played well, was amongst the Jets leaders in time-on-ice tonight.

On the other side, both Redmond & Pardy should be sent down. Hoooweee, they sucked, the both of them. Redmond looks like he needs to get some games in down there to get his timing back, so luckily he is on a two-way deal right now. Telegin - bye.

IceCaps camp starts soon; time to pare some bodies and get the balance left here more resembling the NHL club. They are carrying too many bodies right now and it shows.

Still early though; whatever.

How is anyone not talking about Noel, and the PP.

Yes I know it is pre season, but this is a team that had one of the worst PP's in the entire league. Wright and Peluso on the PP? How about get some guys that will actually see PP time during the season some practice.

Also, I get that people like Wright because he works hard...but so does every other player in the NHL....except other players can actually score or set up goals.

Morrissey looked good. Sheif looked good. Jokinen better not be on the 2nd line. What a boring game to be at....

I can't really see any weakness in Morrisey's game. He's so smart and composed with the puck.

He doesn't need much more to make this club in my opinion and he appears to be way ahead of Trouba right now.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him as a starter next year.

Now you can really see what the Jets saw in him.

He's like a younger version of Enstrom.

I thought it was clear he was rewarding effort guys and sending a message to Wheeler and some other skill players.
The pre-season is the time to say "**** it, I'll play my effort guys."

To everyone who is blaming Noel with his line combos and taking the loss way too seriously: Chill out. Pre-season is for finding chemistry and giving players different looks. Winning is a secondary objective in preseason.

The players that I thought stood out today were Wright (tenacious, quick, and had some great chances) Little (hoping he keeps his play going into the regular season), Cormier (physical and played a smart game) and Bogo.

Players who had an off game IMO: Peluso (could not pass or receive passes), Wheeler (looked good until he was moved off his normal line), and Setoguchi (same camp as Peluso).

Montoya looked decent as well and didn't give out very many costly rebounds.

Morrissey had an up and down game but definitely looks like he can make the jump within the next two years.

Sheifele had a rough 1st and 2nd. Looked slow and just didn't want to engage. He was miles better in the 3rd however.

All in all, It was an okay game. 1st period was back and forth with lots of physical play from the Jets. 2nd period was all Minnesota and the 3rd was mostly all Jets. Excited to see who makes the cut after this week.

Notice a pattern:

Jokinen stunk last year in pre-season, Jokinen stunk last year during the regular season, Jokinen has stunk so far this pre-season....

Put a fork in him, he's done..

Our zone entry was a huge problem on the PP. Once we got possession, we looked solid.

He's like a younger version of Enstrom.

He's not as tight on guys against the rush like Enstrom is, and not quite as quick either. Guys could get a half step or so on him(but nothing else). But that'll likely come in time since he's so young. So not something to worry about. Hope he looks to refine his defensive game this season and comes to camp next year ready to play on that 3rd pairing. Because he WILL be ready in a year easily.

I'm not sure Jokinen will last the season, even as a third line center. Wouldn't be surprised to see O'Dell replace him at some point.

He really is offering nothing anymore.

He's offering nothing more than any top 6 on any AHL roster or any of the other forwards vying for a position on the Jets.

I have to agree. And I have been a fan of his for a while. He looks so out of place it is embarrassing. O'Dell or Cormier can fill his role; at least they are hungry for the puck and minutes.

Watching Jokinen wear a Jets jersey makes me sad. I sure hope things change, but he has not shown much (except for a great, professional attitude) since the ink dried on his contract.

Actually if his poor play continues through the pre-season he should man up and in a classy and professional way announce his retirement, clearly he is done.
