Anyone without a dog in the fight can see Kadri ripping Thornton’s beard out was one of the funniest things to happen in modern hockey. Add to that the Sharks failing to get under Kadri’s skin, and the fact it just made them get even more bothered by Kadri, is just comedic to Ancient Greek proportions.

Yeah Kadri was so cool and collected that he punched Karlsson when he wasnt looking and threw Karlssons stick down the ice in a fit of rage

Yeah, he wasnt bothered at all!

This reasoning is almost as comical as when Vancouver fans tried to justify Burrows biting another man. “Uh....well, if your going to put your hand in someone’s face(facewashing, common in hockey), don’t be surprised if you get bit :thumbu:.”

Talk about a false equivalence.

Yeah Kadri was so cool and collected that he punched Karlsson when he wasnt looking and threw Karlssons stick down the ice in a fit of rage

Yeah, he wasnt bothered at all!

Way to conveniently forget that Karlsson punched him 3-4 times beforehand.

Have you ever seen a fight? You realize you grab the other players sweater right? You do realize Thronton's beard was well below his collar?

The way you spout off you would Kadri was grabbing at beard, which is pure BS.

He squared off with Thornton last year.

Why would he answer when there really shouldn't have been any beef? They were chasing him around like idiots, nothing more.

On top of that, the Leafs were winning. Why pull the selfish move?
As if Kadri wasn’t instigating stuff as well? He’s just as guilty, let’s be real here. The difference the score, which once again, Kadri had little to nothing to do with.

Kadri ended Karlsson’s fluff outrage once and for all with a man punch, and added insult to injury with a Bautista bat flip. That got Karlsson to go home. Job accomplished.

You're arguing something different. Saying that x isn't a reason why a team lost a game is not saying that x is not an impact. The reason why the Sharks coming back and eventually leading after the period matters is because it shows they were other reasons why they lost that game well after the opening faceoff of the game. But that 4 on 4 goal with Kapanen was just poor officiating. The zebras had no business giving Meier a penalty in that situation. But again, it's not why they lost. They lost because no matter what the situation, the Sharks hang their goalies out to dry with poor turnovers and poor coverage that they need to clean up.

You just described Karlsson's career.

Dude he literally had a hand full of his beard. it’s easy to bypass someone’s facial hair to a collar, Kadri clearly was attempting to stir things up, something he always does.

Because he was.....you talk like that happens all the time. Watch it again, he clearly as a handful of Thornton’s hair.

It’s amazing how homersim taints ones sense of judgement so much, that things that are clear as day can still get defended. Let it go, he grabbed his beard. It’s not that huge of a deal to be honest, but this is Kadri....

So dramatized.

Kadri was not the result of their downfall. But please, let that be the source of your pride and joy....watching a pest grab another mans beard because quite frankly, he can’t do anything else. And he knows that.
Kadri can't do anything else? You really want to pick this hill right here? It's not a very good one.

It’s the same line of reasoning. A player does something scummy and out there, homers flock to defend him. Guess who is who....

I shouldn’t get into this but screw it. Kadri going to grab Thornton’s jersey collar in the heat of the moment, like all players do in a fight, and accidently getting a piece of his hair isn’t the same as Burrows making the conscious decision to bite Bergeron’s finger when the scrum/fight is pretty much over and the two are separated by a linesman. It just isn’t.

There are times you can do this, I seem to recall it was later in the year, when games are too important. We are still early in this season. All I am saying, if a player did something against the code of hockey. I would categorize hair pulling as one of them, and let's not forget the player is Joe Thornton. Which just magnifies it. A team will want a player to answer for this. Barclay Goodrow has 9 PIMS this season. He's never even had 100 Pims in any season. The Sharks did not send out a goon to fight. It was not a big deal if Kadri just answered the bell.

It seems to be a big deal to some people here.

Maybe Kadri was telling Thornton to shave his beard. Thornton listened, he shaved. You should be thanking Kadri for getting rid of Joe’s liability in future fights.

Before the puck even dropped Goodrow was going at him
Yup. In fact, the Sharks' coach put Goodrow out to take the opening face-off specifically to fight Kadri. Must be some previous incident that the Sharks' thought demanded retribution. Pretty silly, if you ask me.

Put Kadri, Roussel, and clutterbuck in a room for 3 days with nothing but a hockey stick, a bottle of water, and a jelly donut.

The only people who look bad are those who didn't see the game. Look, I know it's Kadri and all but they were trying to fight him off the start. He was slew footed, he got hit to the back of the head a few times. Sharks players were targeting him the whole game. Even the coach acknowledged this

This has everything to do with Kadri and Thornton's fight last year when Kadri got some of his beard hair during it.

Kadri was just grabbing him Thornton is twice his size, it was a fluke that he got some of his hair that was to chest level during this. Just immaturity all around there.

If the retribution was for the fight with Thornton, then DeBoer and his team are idiotic. It's not Kadri's fault that Thornton had a ridiculous beard. How was Kadri supposed to grab Thornton without a handful of beard?
