He's the most creative centre in the NHL, sits 5th in league scoring, and is the offensive fire of the Thrashers...yet he doesn't get any serious consideration...WHY?
John Flyers Fan said:#1. He isn't the most creative forward in the NHL.
#2. Bottom line is that he isn't one of Canada's 10 best centers or 30 best forwards.

Every one of the players you listed, except Richards and Thornton, hasn't got the offensive CREATIVITY...read the word people, that Savard has. Creativity to me is: playmaking ability, reading how an offensive play can occur before it developes, elite vision that most players don't have, passing skill and accuracy.Geese_Howard said:Sakic

Richards
Sundin

Yeah, Mario Lemieux is no Marc Savard.beerpaul said:Every one of the players you listed, except Richards and Thornton, hasn't got the offensive CREATIVITY...read the word people, that Savard has. One player can lead a team into the playoffs? No player in the NHL, this year, has won more games by taking their team on their back, than Savard has though. Savard was putting up his points before he was put on Kovalchuk's line(which was only just recently). What about the points Marc put up last year when he wasn't on Kovalchuk or Heatley's line? He was second in the league in a point per game ratio, behind only Forsberg. Another Savard diss from someone who probably has seen Savard play one game in the last 3 years. Keep it up sheep!Ziggy Stardust said:Look at how many teams Savard has led to the playoffs, with Marc as their #1 center. Plus team Canada doesn't have Ilya Kovalchuk.

Thornton hasn't won Olympic gold, but he has a WJC gold medal.MeffyuhTJRest said:Gretzky is high also on people who have experience and who have won championships
Thornton - World Championship, World Cup, Olympic Gold
Lecavalier - Stanley Cup, WC, World Cup, Olympic Gold, Memorial Cup
Sakic - 2 Stanley Cups, WC, World Cup, Olympic Gold
Crosby - numerous individual awards, QMJHL Championship, WJC Gold & Silver
Savard - OHL scoring titles and....?
Not saying this is the sole criteria, but Gretzky and co have said they look at this as a big factor.

Burke's Evil Spirit said:Here are some more reasons Marc Savard won't be on Team Canada: They don't want players with love handles, and they don't want whiny, pouty players who angst over their ice-time. Savard can stick with a loser franchise like the Thrashers, Team Canada actually wants to win.
