Has such things with population or area to do? Not necessarily as I see itCanada is big. Sweden is not.
If most canadians dont want another pro league with maybe at least 16-20 teams, with highest salaries of about 12 million dollars
You're not wrong. It must look idiotic to an outsider like you. And it kind of is. But for better or for worse this is the way things are set up and it is deeply entrenched. It would be hard to imagine a scenario where fans opt for another model. People are very attached to the current system. If most canadians dont want another pro league with maybe at least 16-20 teams, with highest salaries of about 12 million dollars seen to US worth so its completely ok for me
Seen to my personal opinion
I think its a tragedy and honestly I see it as like a parody of wrongfulness, but at the same time its real wrongfulness that canadian teams has that curse nowadays, I fell so this year quite more than ever one year after 30 the latest time Habs won in 93, and it feels like a quite bad satire of reality that the sports country of origin you never know in even 50 years from now, would canadian teams win at least 3-4 stanleys again?
Hard to say
I would feel so strongly if I lived in Canada and/or were citizen there
I don't think there is any question that if we were starting pro hockey from scratch, Canada could support an elite pro league.
We aren't starting from scratch. The NHL isn't going to just walk away, so teams in NHL cities, which cover the major Canadian markets, w;ould continue to exist, would get most of the attention, tv money and fans in the seats.
It may be a nice idea, but to use an old expression, you can't get there from here.
When the NHL started out, it was a CDN league, with 2 Montreal teams , Ottawa and Toronto, then some US teams were added.Has such things with population or area to do? Not necessarily as I see it
Or who knows, perhaps it feels better to more often fly to the US to play there often than only in Canada seen to not so fun climate and several other factors
Yeah i understand that also

You could even use the words Stockholm Syndrome to describe it
Its a type of ownhand advantage nhl has given themselves above all other leagues in north america and in the 70s the whole world, had since the 60s forced randomly selected teams of their players
Every pro league in NA uses the draft model. The problem is though
What will happen to the Nhl draft
Perhaps hockey should think more in reality more right to dissolve drafting
Its a type of ownhand advantage nhl has given themselves above all other leagues in north america and in the 70s the whole world, had since the 60s forced randomly selected teams of their players in the leagues there from also from all over the world
It can of course be considered really fun the thing with and mood with the draft, I agree with that
But is it really morally right
No, I guess not
To be clear - the other major level professional sports in North America also use entry draft systems. The NBA does, the NFL does, MLB does, PWHL, WNBA, CFL, MLS, even the NLL (Lacrosse). The NHL isn’t unique on this front - this is pretty much how all the North American pro team sports leagues operate.
The NHL entry draft does not prevent other leagues from having drafts and selecting players. Some players get selected in both the CFL draft and the NFL draft. The NHL wouldn’t bar any player from another pro league - it’s the money that would be the most prominent reason anyone with NHL-level talent would pursue an NHL-level-dollars career path and contract.
It disgusts mei am seriously dumbfounded by the "bring the cup home to canada" thing
They already tried this with a competing pro league. It was called the WHA. They're not around no more, and the best Canadian clubs from there went to the NHL afterwards for a reason.
No, and its debatable if itd still even be the best European league on the continent.Stupid question. If Liiga and the SHL were to merge to become one league, would that be comparable to the NHL?
Merging with Liiga would drag SHL salaries down if anything.Stupid question. If Liiga and the SHL were to merge to become one league, would that be comparable to the NHL?
