His ego is often detrimental to creating a winning culture. Which is why he's been fired like 8 times in the past two decades.

He's been fired/let go 4 times in 22 years.

That's an extremely impressive track record of longevity, both for his overall coaching career, and the average time he spent with each team.

Outside of the Canucks train wreck, Tortorella has had lasting stints everywhere.

But yeah. Anyone who hasn't failed at math knows that if you coach 22 years, you'll be fired a few times. Making a big deal out of it reminds me of the geniuses who kept on harping about Paul Maurice's career loss record when he was hired by the Panthers, without considering the number of games he coached.
