A top heavy roster is another.

It isn't that they have a ton of money tied up in four players, it is the four players in whom that money is tied up.

Chicago had most of its cap tied up in the likes of Kane, Toews, Keith, etc. and had to retool every off-season, but they just kept on winning. Why? Because of the quality of the players in whom they had invested that cap space.

The Leafs problem is who they have invested that money in and we as fans have to face the fact that at least one of them has to go.

Of who is available it should be Berube, this team has a major culture issue. But that would make the "stars" mad and that's not good for MLSE. They need to keep the "stars" happy and build up the next generation of season ticket holders. That is why they give those players a blank check.
I’m being dead serious, I don’t think any coach can change the culture on this team without changing the players, it’s the elephant in the room. As much as I like Berube, he’d be tuned out if they didn’t like the messaging Or somebody’s feelings got hurt…….

Boucher / Gallant are the top two.

Not sure Boucher's record is all that impressive, 423 games coached, 191 W, 186 L, 46 OTL , .506 pts%, Gallant 705 games coached, 369 W, 262L, 70 OTL, .576 pts%

There is this guy they call Coach Q - 1768 games coached , 969 W, 572 L, 150 OTL, .612 pts%
I’m thinking right now Boucher’s wondering what he got himself into being part of this team’s coaching staff……..

If we're hiring today and you could get him re-instated, it's coach Q by a landslide.

If they're not doing it today and I don't think they are, I would hope Sullivan from Pittsburgh shakes loose when the off-season rolls around.

I dont want to hear the Leafs are in 4th place in the eastern conference. Or they need this and they need that. Ofcourse they do. But for now they don't inspire any confidence that they'll do much in the playoffs. They obviously aren't listening to Keefe. They need a new a new voice. Im just throwing out a bunch of possible names. Any other ideas? Brad Trevling I know you read HF Boards. Take note!!!
blow it up

I wonder how much closer we are to Boucher taking over. Bundy has no ties to Keefe. I've never been a fan of Keefe's, and I thought he should have been let go in the summer, but the goaltending isn't his fault, and we're doing pretty well for a team with injuries we've had at the back end and probably the worst goaltending in the league. That has to account for something.

"In a not to surprising move the Toronto Maple Leafs have hired the first A.I coach."

Q.U.I.N.N standing for "Quantum Utilization Information Navigation Nexus" will begin coaching the team immediately.

Dump and chase will be a priority, as well as sandpaper, accountability and a team first attitude with a 21st century twist.

I believe this is the only reason Keefe hasn't been fired yet.

They should make an AI GM to make the moves

big data from the 90's. Loved that big muppet.

I would love to see him behind the Leafs' bench but there are two issues: 1) will Bettman clear him to return? 2) would an organization as image conscious as MLSE hire him after what happened in Chicago?

Irrelevant. Brad knows MLSE can burn money if needed. Easy call while walking into a new team with bigger priorities. I hated the extension but it is logical.

I think MLSE underestimates how big of a problem the coach is.

Riddled with injuries and still have a solid record. Comparing these guys to the 2000 squads is laughable.
but they have won the same amount of championships. And i would take the 02 or 03 teams over these bozo's in a heartbeat

Chicago spread their cap space out. Keith and Hossa for example had illegal deals. The team fell apart when they gave Kane and Toews 10 mill (after 3 Cups).

(1) Bettman should not be an issue if MLSE wants Q.
(2) It is a Chicago org issue (a.k.a. old school hockey cult), not Q's issue.

Having said that, I highly doubt MLSE wants Q to be the coach after they had Babcock.

Samsonov cannot stop a beach ball to save his own life is not his fault, but poorly handling it is his fault. No idea why he put him back in the CBJ game. Anyway, the next coach must need to be able to handle the star players.

winning or losing, I always visit this board :laugh::laugh:

Id like to think Im wrong but I dont think the "band" would approve of his style.

You are correct. Which is why he should be hired, but it's also the reason why he wouldn't. If they love Toronto and want to win so much, it shouldn't be a problem. But we all know they aren't serious about either.

we're on the right trac with Dubas gone. keefe is the last bit of the Kyle stench

If Keefe benching Kampf for Sammy being awful doesn't show you how bad he is...I don't know what will. Jones should have played that B2B and we lost both games after we went 0-2 on the PK.

Happens when you bench your big PK guy

He just keeps bleeding points with dumb decisions.
