Thanks for displaying such a level of ignorance, makes any reply completely irrelevant and unnecessary.
Another scorching Danault support post. I gotta wear asbestos gloves here.

Right, I'm going to bed. If anyone is unclear on my position regarding Danault and Domi after my 60 posts on this topic, please feel free to text me at your convenience.

Bless all of you and sleep well.

No club that I have esteem for would ever have me.

Reminds of an old Groucho Marx famous line, first uttered in 1949 but recounted differently many times since:

Once, however, when he was in a gregarious mood, Groucho let some friends persuade him to join the Friars Club. After months of refusing to take part in any of the club’s activities, he finally decided it was foolish to pay dues any longer and sent in his resignation. In the next mail, he received a letter from the club’s president, wanting to know why he had resigned. Groucho promptly wrote back, “Because I don’t want to belong to any club that would have me as a member!”

Danault is a pending UFA. Domi is not. Are you prepared to have Danault get 6 mill as a third line C for 7 years?
The gap between what you want MB pay Danault and what you fear he will pay is what 1,5M?
There is already 10M Molson doesn't spend because he cannot bring the most interresting ufa. Habs needs to overpay any player, from Price to Gomez and Subban and Weber. They are/were all overpaid, you have to accept it so the money Danault will get is a bad argument. It's not like if the money saved will be used to bring an interresting ufa here, from Tavares to Duchene, they don't want to sign here.

1. So Habs can't get big D and wings to help counter Domi's size. And sorry Danault is not exactly huge and intimidating either. Bad argument.
2. Other C men will improve at FO and you don't pay a guy 6 mill for FO and 13 goals, you pay a guy 6 mill for offence. Bad argument.
3. No other C man can ever have 'chemistry' with Gallagher and Tatar, ever. One of who might be gone in the next year or two anyway. Bad argument.
4. If there are so many reasons why Danualt is a keeper. What are they if not the three above?

Geez, Danault is not getting a lot of help here.
You are very naive to think MB will bring two solid wingers to help any Domi or Suzuki small centers. MB will sign someone like another Armia who have size and isn't intimidating. Danault isn't huge and intimidating but he wins most of his battles among the boards. No else C than Danault made Tatar produce like he did. I agree Gally would produce with any C but not Tatar. He's not a superstar. If you think Evans, Weal or Poehling can replace Danault you are naive. Mark my words, the season Danault will be traded, most of posters here will say geez, we miss Danault. You don't realise all the little good things he does on the ice and how helpful he is on the team. And about Gally and Tatar gone by next year, I realise you might play playstation a bit too much. You think MB can trade those two important players easy, replaced by another who, another player who plays like Lehkonen and Armia.

The most toxic thing anyone can do is go public with such comments, as Danault has done. It shows selfishness. It lacks team spirit. Domi didn't have to go public with his valid disappointment. Domi's been shat on by all journalists, fans, etc. This, exactly one season after being the first center in well over a decade to score over 70+ points. Domi's linemates have been pure ass all season long. He hasn't been gifted many chances. Princess Danault, on the other hand, has everything handed over to him on a silver platter - and STILL complains when something doesn't go his way.

Max Domi didn't have to show up at the play-ins. He put his life in danger to try and help this team. The coach failed him, threw him under a bus (and this, no less, during a contract renewal year). But yeah, let's all vote for Golden Boy Danault.

yiiiiikes man, haha.
like you say...if you want loyalty, buy a dog. Danault deserves the big ticket. He's been our most reliable center for a few years now. And with the emergence of KK and Suzuki, having an impact, seasoned guy behind them is really important. I'd take Danault at 45-55pts taking big draws, on the pk, and on assignments than Domi at 55-65pts. I like Domi, but i'd take Suzuki over him any day and I think they kind of gun for the same roster spot.

When you say the emergence of KK and Suzuki, what do you mean exactly? Let them continue to play with sub-par wingers and give the birthday portions to Danault? If KK and Suzuki prove to handle top 6 center duties then that means they get top 6 wingers. Danault no way in hell is gonna get 45-55 points with 3rd line wingers. He barely managed it with the top wingers on the team.

I'm not a big Danualt fan, and I detest Domi. I really don't get to play this game

Don’t you think it should be easier for KK Suzi to produce with sub par winger (Domi, Drouin, Armia, Etc) while Danault get the tougher match up ?

Personally, I want Suzi and KK to drive the offense...if they can’t do that with Winger like Drouin and Domi against weaker competition...well we have a problem

I’m pretty sure if they (KK, Suzi) start dominating, opposite team will adjust. After that...Gallagher (IMO Tatar is in the same category of Domi/Drouin) will probably be playing with one of them vs top line player.

This could all change if we acquire a top RW. I think everyone agree he would be playing with Suzi...and keep Danault line intact. KK would than get the easiest matchup..

My theory is that the 'middle class' in the NHL is being hollowed out. You pay your 4-5 big guys shitloads, and pay the rest peanuts. I'm exaggerating but Chicago had some success with this. Habs have and have had way too many bloated contracts for middling players. And 6 Mill for Danault would be one of them.
The NHL UFA market is littered with journeyman type "valuable" players who get overpaid with the team signing him having severe buyers remorse.
The Canadiens have done superbly with Danault. They got him for nothing. He's worked his way into becoming a useful player, but one who is easily replaced vs. paying him a STUPID contract. His good play is also the result of having a symbiotic relationship with his linemates. That is rare and unique in hockey today.
Next year let Philip play his last year here and either trade him at the deadline or just let him play out his contract. You cant let his contract tie this team up.

If it’s so small-minded, are you sure you want to keep spending time here? I’d hate to be part of a “club” that I’d have so little esteem for.

To each his own, I guess.
To each his own. You didn't beleived in Danault, I did.
Look where Danault is playing now and how he helped his new team.
Where is his fallout?
Fallout by doing that silly celebration with a chrome helmet? lol

Domi to me always felt like a stat padder and a bit of a top line pretender. His big season here only came about because he was fed all the top minutes and it didn't do anything.

Meanwhile you have PD who can effectively shut down literally the best players in the world consistently, while being decent to good offensively with more intangibles.

It's Danault AINEC

For the poster saying defence can be learned by anyone....go ahead teach max some defense let's see what happens lol. Domi is all flash no substance and Danault actually delivers results

I'd take Danault if Danault accept to play a specialist role. Like, being in charge of stopping the first line of the other team and play the PK.

If not, I'd take Domi because he's better a getting points, and that's how you win at hockey.

I was dumb in 2014.

I still am but hopefully not as much

Your response is totally nonsensical, even if it wasn't 3 years later. Nice to see when people out themselves as caring way more about French players than the actual team.

So you loved Dvorak, Paquette, Hoffman, Armia, Perreault and Evans?
Good for you. Not good for the team.
