I don't think people give credit to him and his staff for even drafting Fox in the first place... in the 3rd round. Imagine if Fox didn't force his hand for a trade? His drafting is pretty strong from 2014 to 2022.

In 2015 he drafted Andersson, Kylington and Mangiapane. They had 5 picks and got 3 NHLers of out it, 2 of them being really damn good players. In 2016, he drafted Tkachuk, Dube and Fox. 2017 Valimaki and Ruzicka is ok. 2018 was bad. 2019 Pelletier and Wolf. 2020 to 2022 is up in the air but Zary and Coronato look like NHLers that could be very good.

You can't argue against the Tkachuk trade. It was terrible in hindsight but when it was made people thought Calgary was the winner. Weegar has been really good and his new contract is actually very good. Huberdeau's contract is terrible. Kadri's contract isn't great because of the term but he did well for them. Coleman has been a good signing, not sure where that comes from. Markstrom had an AWFUL year but he'll probably bounce back.

I don't know why I'm defending Treliving so much but I think he's really pushed into a corner with some awful general managers. He was a lot better than what people give him credit for. The 1 trade really makes people forget a lot of the other things he did.
I also don't think Treliving is that bad. We also don't know how much ownership meddled into transactions as well.

Futa
Tulsky

Are the two that are interesting
Tulsky isn't an option imo. He's Dubas 2.0 except without an ounce of hockey knowledge, didn't even grow up as a fan. Probably can't even skate. He'd be great as another AGM but not close to becoming a GM. People laughing at the Wickenheiser idea should be dying of laughter at the Tulsky suggestion.

I took Pridham because I think it's going to happen first off, even if he is just made acting GM. The other guys I need to know more about availability and I just don't have the sources.

I nominate Tulsky for GM.

It's been nine years of the Shanaplan. The result so far has been a single series win. And a demoralized fan base.

Along with major questions surrounding everyone, from the players on the ice, all the way up to POHO.

This has been nothing short of gross incompetence. How anyone could think winning one round in nine years is acceptable is beyond me. Winning rounds should be a given at this point.

They should have been a given when Keefe was named coach.

The Shanahan regime has been a disaster. No one, and I mean no one, that is a fan of this team should be happy with the results. The best chance to win a cup in a lifetime pissed away.

By the most incompetent management group in a lifetime.

It doesn't matter who was right and who was wrong. There were no winners here. Everyone who is a fan of this team lost.

It's finally over now.

As it should be. As it should have been years ago. This farce went on far too long.

Nothing would tell the fans ML$E has no respect for them more than running it back again would now.

The Leafs are losers. Always have been, always will be. That's because the vision of management consists of the blind leading the blind.

I'm hoping the new President, GM, and Coach can change that.

He's been an AGM for 3 years and in hockey for 12 years now....and has actual data / analytical education from Harvard compared to a sports management diploma from Brock U...

The Shanahan regime has been a disaster? I hear stuff like this and I remember how bad things were before him. Systematically took stock of what the Leafs had and made changes. It was a coup when he hired Lou and Hunter and brought Dubas. Had great success in the draft and yet was a disaster. His responsibility is to put people into positions to be successful and I believe he did that. It was on Dubas to construct a team for the ultimate goal. When Babcock made things uncomfortable on players Dubas backed the players. He should have backed the coach. Dubas got rid of anyone that would question him and HIS plan. Shanny gave him all the rope he needed. I think he was beyond supportive of him. Sweet Jesus, from where we were until now and it is a disaster, you have to really think about where that is coming from.

I want a hockey guy, not an analytics guy. I think it goes Bowman, Poile and Treliving and whatever long tenured guys are available. The rest like Hextall, Fletcher and others are a disaster. I would listen to Shero. Bowman has two lifetimes of knowledge there. Would Poile exorcise the demons of the past? Something has to give here, we found Billy's body, something else has to give.

Poile isn't leaving Nashville for anything

Bowman needs to be re-instated and Treliving is "okay" - I looked at his drafts 2015-2020, pretty good and his trades are okay to good.

Tulsky is a hockey guy that happens to know analytics, every team uses them.

His education is in chemistry and physics. He's been in hockey for less than 9 years and an AGM for 2 years, 7 months. He's a less experienced Dubas when Dubi became GM.

He's being courted as well so not sure if that will work out, and if anything he may take offense to the fact that he's potentially next in line but they're making him an interim while basically finding his next boss. Not sure I would want someone like the negotiating the next deals or making the next big trade... If Tulsky is not a possibility then I'd rather just promote Pridham permanently.
I’m surprised he didn’t pull a Spezza, in fact I’m surprised there wasn’t a total mutiny if you believe the rumoured God like status Dubas held over his staff………

How did he mess up the Tkachuk trade, he was basically handcuffed and had to trade him to Florida. Fox wasn’t signing there either.

Not saying he’s a good choice, but those are poor examples
In hindsight - If Dubas made the Tkachuk trade people would be screaming from the rooftops at how badly he fleeced Florida getting both Huberdeau and Weegar back. Then Huberdeau failing would just be tagged as "bad luck".
