The number one obstacle to moving Nurse is not his cap hit, it's his NMC and his close connection with McDavid.

Assuming that away, you could find some type of deal. I think for instance that my Jackets would listen on a Nurse for Severson swap. The Oilers rebalance toward RD and get a better puckmover, while the Jackets get the stronger player who plays harder.

Plenty of downsides to consider - watching Severson will definitely make you miss Nurse's edge. And Nurse is tough but not an ideal shutdown guy because of the risk in his game. So you're adding a $9m x 5 to your left side that already boasts Werenski and Mateychuk (who looks like a star in the making), and you're not getting a perfect fit in terms of play style. So both teams would look to find other deals first.

Because there are still 5 years left on his contract Nurse probably can only be moved for other overpaid guys. But once we get to 3-4 years left then you'll see clubs listen on him if they're at the start of a rebuild and can get some assets for taking him on.

It's more lack of options. Ekholm is hurt and Walman is walking wounded. Edmonton's most used LD in the 3 wins is Brett Kulak, by the way. In the losses, it was Nurse. An adjustment was made to increase Kulak's icetime because Nurse was struggling in a bad way.

I would take Korpisalo over him easily. Bruins wouldve made the playoffs if they used Korpisalo as the started and didnt sell at the deadline.
