Jake Neighbours with 9 goals (2 goals tonight) and 1 assist.

I'm not sure I get that. I could see a player have a 2:1 ratio of assists to goals but an 9:1 ratio of goals to assists?

Anyway, at 21, he's looking very good.

***

Cole Perfetti with his 8th. At 21, he is also looking very good.

**

Luke Evangelista looking good, too.

He probably won’t make the team in 2025 or 2026, but I’ve been watching Zach Benson and he’s gonna be special. Might make the 2030 team. He’s so skilled, but above all else he does all the little things on the ice. Reminds me of Mitch Marner.

How is Bower Byram progressing? He has 2 goals, tonight.

How do posters think he will look in 2 years?

Marchand coming alive - O.T. winning goal against Toronto and a hat-trick, tonight.

Byfield with a goal - still not PPG. We need to see some multipoint games from the 21 year old.

Who are you 3 goalies? For me, Adin Hill, Logan Thompson, Tristan Jarry, with Ingram being in the mix too.
Yea, probably those 3. Carter Hart in the mix for the 3rd string. Don’t trust Stuart Skinner or Fleury one bit, Levi still has to develop and Cossa probably won’t start a game until later on this season or maybe next season altogether. Probably Hill, Thompson and Jarry right now.

I still think Montembeault has the best potential to be an “elite” tendy for Canada.

Yea, we don't have a Broduer, or a Belfour, or a Price right now. It's open for a lot of guys. They have a chance to battle for a spot and compete with each other.

Was thinking about this the other day and think some of us might be too hard on Team Canada. While we don’t have generational defensive forwards like Toews and Bergeron, take a look at the PP:

PP1
McDavid-Crosby-Bedard
MacKinnon-Makar

PP2
Barzal-Point-Marner
Stamkos-Morrisey

Don’t think Canada has ever had that much speed, skill and top-end offensive fire power ever.

That PP1 is insane.

*******************************************************

I would NEVER include him but Sean Monahan is having his best season in a long while.

I don't like him but Suzuki will get a look.

Yeah.

Absolutely no one on Earth is going to be able to stop that first powerplay unit lol

Young Mr. Byfield with a 3 point night (so far).

Also, when I've watched the Kings, Drew Doughty has been a rock star. Not flashy, like some D-Men, but he controls the entire game. He has 2 points, tonight.

All of a sudden, Barzal is on fire.

**

Bedard with an assist.

Hardly any PP points. Pretty amazing.

Another goal tonight. The Columbus posters are raving about him. Pencil Adam into the 2026 Olympic roster.

Things are looking up, @Dominance !

Still too early to make that call. but things are taking shape that it will be a young, big and highly skilled Team Canada. And it will be a border clash with the Americans for gold.

We can pencil in MacTavish, Bedard and Byfield making their Olympic debut in '26.

The 2019 draft is disappointing so the Canadian Draft Black Hole has deepened from "2016 - 2018" to "2016 - 2019". I just don't know what happened during those years?!?!

It could be a REALLY young team up front. Perfetti will be in the mix, Neighbours, Evangelista - and don't count out guys like Jack Quinn, Wyatt Johnston and LAF.

The back end will be near the end of their run, but D-Men age better than forwards.

It will be the U.S.'s GREAT late teen drafts, in their prime, versus our older players with kids - and very little in between.

Having said that, 2030 is looking GREAT - we might be able to ice 2 TOP teams in their prime.

Hopefully McDavid, MacKinnon, Makar, Crosby, Marchand, Stamkos can win until the next generation arrives. That's the nice thing about Canada and hockey - there's always a bunch of players having a really good year - except in goal. :(

I don't ever remember a time where Canada's options in net were so.... mediocre.

90s I remember Roy, and Joseph playing for the team. 2000s, it was brodeur and luongo. Then price in the 2010s.

What a drop.

I mean Hill isn't Roy Brodeur Luongo or Joseph but he has a 1.87 GAA (2nd in the NHL by 0.03 GAA) and a save percentage of 93.5% (1st in the NHL) and he just backstopped the most recent cup winner. I wouldn't call that mediocre.

I'm just speaking big picture. I don't mean to step on hill or anything, but I don't think he will be a hall famer when all is said and done.
