Mike Gillis.

He has a plan that involves a huge amount of money from ownership on non salary cap stuff, and a wide team of specialized people working under him. Fire Shanny and Dubas and let Mike Gillis run the show. I am so curious to see his plan in action and Toronto is one of the places with the money to let him.

This is a guy who produced two prezzies and a cup final prioritizing skill, who then spent years travelling the globe learning about how winning organizations win.

Will add him to the poll

Other. I would be fine with Gilman taking over for now. I don't associate him with the club's current direction.

At least three of those guys would be better than what we have here, for sure.

From there it really depends on the interview process.

Gorton, Lombardi and Rutherford are interesting options for different reasons. Someone that has won in the role would be great. I will say that previous experience as an NHL GM is a must.

I want to say Bill Zito but he won't be available. The work he's done in Florida has been exactly what you'd think an analytics heavy GM of the future would pull off, grabbing a bunch of misfits and cast offs and they all seem to pan out. He turned the Panthers from a typically thin team with a good young underachieving core and put them right on the map.

Or maybe Jeff Gorton. He rebuilt the Rangers pretty quickly before James Dolan came in and changed course.
