He never had any sources on their draft targets before though. It was a different staff and maybe he's gained some. But not like he called Dach or Boqvist ever. I thought it was the day of the draft some other writers were saying they heard Dach was a target.

The draft day trades made it probably harder so I wouldn't of expected it, but I didn't see any Korch/Nazar calls.

He's a beat reporter not an insider. He can know things and not say them because that'll hamper his access.

It won't be because he's Russian, literally. It will be because they'll be more comfortable with Levshunov because they've seen him in person more and the NCAA is a better league.

It has nothing to do with being Russian. Levshunov is from Belarus it's basically the same thing.

to play devil's advocate, there is a very real chance that the international situation gets much worse in the next year. to stop playing devil's advocate, if it comes to that we probably won't be worrying about hockey too much come time for next off-season.

if your first condition is satisfied, then the second is almost a guarantee in my estimation. as i like to say, time will tell. still would rather they draft demidov. my only point is i can see how an american corporate entity would price in that extra risk, doesn't mean i think it's reasonable or a good decision.

I get the appeal of Lev as RD with "Top Pairing potential" but BPA is Demidov and he fits a greater need

3-10 is the crapshoot if you look at various rankings.

Demidov now has a wide consensus at #2. For many Lev isn't in their top 5.

If you are a scout and rank Demidov as the consensus 2 but won't take him two (due to no live viewings or something) then how are you putting him at 2 without live viewings? Doesn't make sense to me. Either he is your 2nd best player or he isn't.

Also Catton at 12 just.. get me in that 10-14 range KD.

Jett Luchanko is the player that Scott brought up in discussions around the 18th pick.
