Hey guys. I'm a life-long Isles fan from Long Island, but have always had a soft spot for Buffalo in my heart since we are technically in the same state. I will be moving to Buffalo in a few short months, and decided that rather than follow just the Isles from the road, I will also begin cheering for the Sabres. It won't be hard to do, since like I said before, we're in the same state and all :)

You're not the only one.

I'm married to a native Long Islander, and I've converted her to Team Blue & Gold. :yo:

Where in Buffalo are you moving? Downtown? Suburbs?

Not a 100% yet, looking at Orchard Park, East Aurora, and a few others. I need a good school district, and close access to the casinos (poker) as well as a nice area, but not too expensive.

Also, how are season tix? Are they available? I looked up the pricing and it doesnt look too bad.

Last I checked there was a big long waiting list.

Definitely go Orchard Park. Great public school system, really safe area, not far from Buffalo. The town is simply a great place to live.

Waiting list, yeah...

but you (ktrio) are probably better off suited getting individual game tickets or some sort of package. Considering you like the Isles, might want to get those two, plus a few against the Rags for nostalgic hatred purposes.

If you go to a Leafs/Sabres game, BE LOUD pro-Buffalo. The Toronto fans get their hands on a fair share of tickets at HSBC.

Favorite Sabre: Rick Martin

Current Sabre: Miller

Favorite Sabre Moment(s)/Memories:

The Good:

1. Having beers with Rick Martin at a tiki bar down here in Florida.....He told me he'd be back the next day, it was my local hangout and I brought in a DVD player with old Sabres Highlights, many of them of him, and we had drinks for over an hour.....awesome time. I was wearing a Sabres Tee, and some guy asks me, with Martin next to me, if I thought I was part of the French Connection, I said: "I'm not but he is..." Awesome, awesome moment, especially if you ever met Martin. He had a genuine smile and interest the entire time.....RIP.

The Bad:

2. About 10 years ago, playoff series against Philly, Hasek let in a goal that he was miffed at how it got past him. After further review, the puck went through the side of the net.....AND COUNTED! The way Hasek looked down at his pads, and around, you could tell he knew something was up. Goal counted then. During intermission, the camera was on Darcy in the review booth with an official, standing on a chair, pointing to a tv, screaming.....you could tell he was screaming f-bombs, goal still counted, and the Buffalo curse lived on. Loved Darcy since.

The Ugly:

No Goal...I was there.

Jerseys: 4.

Miller in the new scripted "Buffalo"
Old white original
White Goat
White Slug

Hate: NYR and Philly

Bands: way too many to list...Van Halen, with David Lee Roth is all time fav. Stones, Offspring, Elvis, Hip, Headstones, Doors, lots of rock bands of today...

Personal:

Canisius High School
Sports
Bikinis

PS.....Thank you Mr Pegula for the renewed faith that we will win the Stanley Cup!!!!

I moved here from Phoenix in November - didn't get a chance to catch a Kings' game although I did start following them a little on TV. Other than Doughty and Kopitar, they don't really have any eye-catching appeal and the style they play under Murray isn't all that entertaining. They should be a lot more offensive-minded than they are IMO.

I actually had started rooting for the Coyotes as my 2nd favorite team because they resembled a little of the '96-'97 Sabres with their underrated, hard work-mode - but watching games in that half-empty arena was tough the last few years.

Funny tidbit on how I became a hockey/Sabres fan. Always been a sports guy, but hockey wasn't a huge think in Idaho. I was able to play a demo of NHL 2000 and it had Dallas vs Buffalo on it (I had no recollection of what had transpired at that moment). I immediately fell in love with Buffalo (from the players to the jerseys). I started following hockey and Buffalo at that point. Pretty funny how I got into it, but now I am a hardcore fan.
