Well, people are just going to quote me and say how I don't like PK and how I should cheer for another team, or be sarcastic and ask " How are the Bruins doing?", one has to point out flaws in Subban, too.

You're not worried about how he gets too emotional ? He runs around and takes selfish penalties. He says the right things about it's the team first, him second, but you'll see that he'll put himself first and try to take revenge when he was wronged on the ice instead of playing through it.

It was really bad at the start of his career, but now he's settling down. Another year, or two it might be out of his system.

While it's nice to see when he makes a mistake, he tries to get the goal back right away, but it almost never works. He tries too hard to do everything himself and a lot of the time it either leads to him screwing up and giving the other team another goal, or a very good chance, or he does and obvious dives, then trips someone, or interferes and takes a penalty.

You also have to look at their personalities. If it's between Pacioretty and Subban, how does the other act if they don't get it ? Subban definitely wants to be the guy, but if he doesn't get it, I could see him having a little resentment.

At the end of the day it's really (or should be) only between Subban and Pacioretty. I think if either gets it, the other will be supportive of the other.

I think PK's emotion is why he should be captain. I love Koivu but PK is a smart player on and off the ice can handle the media and love's the spotlight. If he brings a little " Messier/Pronger" style on the ice I'm fine with that. Basically I'm sick of Mr. Nice guy.

Look at the Stone slashing incident. He threatened (warned ) stone to stay out of Price's kitchen. Stone buzzed the crease and Subban gave him the business. We piss and moan about nobody protecting Carey but i haven't seen him knocked around since then. ....

When Max Pacioretty is off his game, it's because he plays lazy and doesn't rise to the occasion.

When Subban is off his game, it's usually because he's trying to do too much and is over playing the puck.

I'd rather Subban, no question.

The real captain of this team is Carey Price
Brendan Gallagher should be the captain. He brings 110% every game.
PK Subban and Max Pacioretty are better as assistant captains.

Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Markov shouldn't have a letter.

I said PK without a doubt after last years playoffs. Changed my mind to Patch during the season... but I now remember why I picked PK last year.

All signs are pointing to Pacioretty, though.

Price should be indeed. Too bad he is a goalie.

Subban is too immature/emotionnal (his reaction after his slash on Stone) = not captain material.

Pacioretty is all class but magically seems to disappear in the playoffs

Gallagher is a pest and not skilled enough, beeing captain is not his role on the team

If I had to choose i'd pick MAX 67. But there is no clear winner except Price.

Subban should be Captain in a few years, maybe 2017/2018

He has a long term contract with the team, plays with emotion, and is almost never lazy on the ice.

Price will be the real leader of the team for years to come, but Subban should get the C in a few years if he keeps his level of play up.

Gallagher is the right choice IMO.
Yup.

I mean, 'right' is relative of course but Pacioretty's unwillingness to play hard (and his infuriating disappearing act - 1 point in 5 games, + 1 EN goal with 0.1s remaining) and Subban's general antics have really hurt their cases. Plekanec isn't talented enough. Markov is too old and wouldn't want it.

That doesn't leave much - and Gallagher for all his warts, is the most leave-it-on-the-ice player I've seen on this team in recent memory - and he's a feisty one but he's not filthy like Subban is. In that regard he's much like Gionta (but Gionta would often leave frozen dog **** on the ice and slam it into the goalie's crest).

Gallagher needs an A, at least.

In my opinion it's still Subban's to lose (and he's losing it) because there is no way Patches has earned it. He's MIA.

even more convinced Gallagher is the correct choice
I wonder what the precedence is to move a letter from one player to another during the playoffs?

I mean, it's not a big deal at all but I'm just curious. Patches gave a lot of lip service about the honour of "maybe being a captain" but I really, really don't think he deserves an A. Just do your sniping thing, and maybe play a bit better than crap in the playoffs and focus on goal-scoring Max.

I voted for Pacioretty but Gallagher’s insane compete level combined with the fact that he is under contract until 2021 are strong points in his favour. As mentioned by shawdowmaker, there are plenty of leaders/high compete players in Montreal.

he's also a major 'glue player' on our team
