Toronto barely has a "2nd Round" window.
One can easily EXTRAPOLATE you feel the same about Tampa.I do not acknowledge their cups. None of them. No asterisks - that involves acknowledgment.
Hey! There's a lot of respect there. The Leafs beat the Panthers where it counts...

Of course it's about more than that. That doesn't mean it's not an advantage. It obviously is.“If a team sucks, people don’t want to go there.”
It’s about more than simply the tax rates. There are a lot of factors taken into consideration by the players.
It’s a lazy answer.
The ones with their head in the sand are those who write it off simply due to the tax advantage.Of course it's about more than that. That doesn't mean it's not an advantage. It obviously is.
Other teams may have different advantages, such as the Leafs or Habs printing money in a hotbed, but to say the tax thing has no bearing on e.g. Florida's ability to build a competitive team is putting your head in the sand.
Indeed. However, the league has revenue sharing in place to compensate for some teams being in better markets, plus there is a salary cap to significantly reduce the advantage. The ones with their head in the sand are those who write it off simply due to the tax advantage.
Of course there are other factors involved, that was my whole point.
It’s up to other teams to turn those “different advantages” you mentioned to their benefit.
It’s a lazy argument by those who attempt to sum it all up by simply saying, “taxes”.Indeed. However, the league has revenue sharing in place to compensate for some teams being in better markets, plus there is a salary cap to significantly reduce the advantage.
The tax advantage has no such checks and balances which makes it a more significant advantage that is also outside teams' control. They can strive to increase revenue or make their location more desirable, but they can't adjust their state tax. Some teams effectively operate under a different salary cap than others.
Therefore it is not a "lazy argument", but rather a very valid one even if it isn't the only one.
Leafs will have a better roster
On that we agree. Full marks to the Panthers on the job they did turning a bad situation into a great one. It’s a lazy argument by those who attempt to sum it all up by simply saying, “taxes”.
And there are many who do so.
History is not on your side Sunny Stick.I get Florida won but I'm asking who has the better window going forward...
This isn't a what has happened thread, it's a future based thread.
Tim’s coming to Florida. The Panthers are by the beach and have suitable weather so them. The only cup window the Leafs have is the Tim Hortons drive thru.
Going forward it unquestionably is the Leafs, only because Florida will simply cap and age-out of its window, as happens with any great team. This isn't a slight against Florida or even a compliment to the Leafs. It's simply the nature of two teams at different stages.I get Florida won but I'm asking who has the better window going forward...

I don't think this is the case.Florida has a better cap situation
I swear I misread the post.. I read this:Panthers have won 8 of their last 10 play off series.
Leafs have won 1 of their last 8 play off series.
I like the Panthers group and core better.
I Like the Panthers goaltendibg better.
I like their play off track record better. Although getting the Panthers back up goalie has improved the leafs between the pipes.
Barkov, Tkachuk, Reinhardt, Bennet, Verheague, Ekblad , Bob .....all look like they will be around for awhile. Their window for a second cup looks much better.
What is in the Leafs pipe that will make them a stronger team in the next 4 to 5 years than they were the last 4-5 years? I thought the leafs have had very strong rosters for several seasons now. What is changing to make them cup finalists or champions?Going forward it unquestionably is the Leafs
Fine, the one who doesn’t try to name the knock off Marshalls after something the local hockey team is not, winners.Tim’s coming to Florida.
