Who else thinks Mike Richards will turn it and revive some of his game again.

I think his game has forever changed ever since that concussion he got in his first year with the kings and the Bolland hit in 2013 i think solidified it all.Its really sad to see his career go like this he was one of the best captains and two way players while in philly its not something you ever predicted with him. That said a small player that plays like a big guy usually doesn't have the best exit in the league, their body takes such a beating that its hard for them to maintain their play Richards isn't exempt from that unfortunately

He isn't old and didn't have a major injury that I am aware of, just cumulative where and tear? why did he decline so drastically?

I'm gonna say it might have had something to do with his off-ice lifestyle. See also: Wade Redden. But the concussions and playing like a big man in a smaller guy's body no doubt are a factor too.

I'm not familiar with the Redden story. Explain?

Some of the stuff would fall under libel I'm afraid.

During a kings vs. Canucks game Alex burrows made a gesture toward Richards that Patrick oneil called disgusting and said he would not repeat. A fan said he put snow on his blade and put it to Richards face. Now that means nothing other than burrows is a jerk but who knows. I just always remembered it.

After his interviews today, I am losing confidence quickly that Richards even wants to put the effort in getting in shape and being the best he can be.

Hopefully he doesn't fall into that lazy void like Penner is currently in.

Yeah, I also think he could still be a useful player on some other NHL team but the trouble is and continues to be his contract. Doubt no one will take a chance with it.

I think he could find a role as a useful player somewhere in the league, but a role big/important enough to justify nearly $30 million?... God no.

A lot of guys around the league probably know about Richards extracurricular activities. He's a low-life.

Could you provide some info on the content of the interviews? Not all of us have seen them.

I think that he'll be able to be an effective bottom 6 guy still. If he really commits to his off ice conditioning this summer I think he'll be back in the NHL. Won't ever be worth his contract though.

I can't see it. He doesn't have the work ethic to make the necessary changes, and he lost a step. Since he was never the best skater, that is going to make it extremely difficult to turn things around.

I don't think so. He's played bigger than he has been for so long now, and the league is just getting faster and faster. If his skating has deteriorated to the level that many say it has, I doubt he'll be able to get back in the game.

It's not an issue of motivation, it's an issue of what his body is physically capable of at this point. He's not old for life in general, but he's getting old for the NHL, especially for a player of his style.

I love Richards, he is one of my favorite players. But it's gonna be a long road back, I really hope he can do it though.

He did do that this off-season, Lombardi made sure of it.

come on, I can understand where u may be coming from but it has happen to few players before.

Richards just seems like one of those. Kind of like Pominville after going through waiver wire

I must have missed something, when did Pominville go through waivers?
