Who else is not excited for Playoffs?

The "anything can happen in the playoffs" statement is so not true. A bad team never wins the Stanley Cup. It takes a lot of talent and luck to win the Stanley Cup. If the Habs are lucky they could go as far as the second round and that's it. Pittsburgh will crush them. I am not a 4 years old boy who still believe that Santa Claus is real and anything is possible. I am a realist fan. The Habs will not win the the Stanley Cup this year and i am fine with that.

Actually it is true. If you have a crystal ball, please tell me who's gonna win the cup so I can bet my house on it.
1st never doesn't guarantee you the cup. 8th seed doesn't mean you can't win. Best team on paper doesn't mean they will win for sure.
When the puck drops, the score is 0-0, nobody knows what will happen next hence the "anything can happen".

I don't know about you but I had a great time in spring 2010. Did you believe in santa claus after we eliminated the pens? I did, and it was awesome.
If Pittsburgh is healthy there is not a chance the Habs beat them. The Habs lose 6-4 against them last week and Malkin, Crosby and Neal were not even on the ice. Also the Habs had a great goalie performance from Halak and Cammaleri was very opportunist.
The Habs also lose in 5 game agains Philly that year. So they were not even close to win the Stanley Cup despite the upset against the Caps and the Pens.
And yet...they...won. Come on, say it with me. The Montreal Canadiens beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in a playoff series. It's not that hard.
Talk to me again in a few weeks bud.
Well, that's why anything can happen and that playoffs.
We can see injuries, Price pulling a Halak, Quick or Ward. A really hot PP. Etc, etc..

Hehehe, very bipolar thread. Playoffs are exciting when your team is there. If don't think so, go follow cricket, because playoffs are the essence of the sport.

Today I learned that the conference finals are "not even close" to the Stanley Cup Finals, despite being only one series win away. What an educational thread this is.
This week will determine how excited I will be for the playoffs.
If Therrien continues to do the player shuffle with our lines, meh, not so much.
If Therrien keeps playing Ryder on the 3rd or 4th line, then I definitely will not be excited about the playoffs. I remember what happened the last time an idiot Canadiens coach did not take advantage of Ryder's skill during the playoffs. And I expect the same results if that is the case.

I remember when the trade deadline was closing in fast. There were a few fans here (myself included) who wanted to trade either picks or prospects to improve the Habs chances in the playoffs since this was such a special and magical season.
I dont feel like searching through the countless threads on the several posts but I do seem to remember that most of the people who are quoting your post ^^^ and giving you "attaboy" responses were the most vocal who said that this team was not ready for a Cup run (which means they expected the Habs to lose) and so we should not do anything at all.
So which fanbase is worse/better?
The ones who wanted to improve this team at the deadline and are now frustrated because we did not and now realize that we are in serious trouble?
Or the ones who said this team had no chance in hell in winning and now feel validated but are excited as hell we are limping into the playoffs?

They were 3 out of 12 wins away from the Stanley Cup Finals... That's three quarters of the way there. Not sure what your logic is.

Yes, Emelin is sorely missed. But Emelin was not the reason we were one of the top scoring teams in the League.
Cohesion among the lines was. You can see that we are missing that as we try to get the puck out of our zone. We have reverted back to a Martin style of play with the puck passed to somewhere in the direction of the red line.
The play against Pittsburgh was embarrassing. We could not even gain the red line because we had forwards playing with forwards they had not spent any time with on their lines. Instead of instinctively passing the puck to your linemate knowing they would be there, our forwards were spending those extra second or two looking for someone and then simply dumping the puck.
Our defense sucks now because our forwards are not supporting the DMen the way they were during the season. Again, no cohesion. And without puck support, Carey Price is left out to dry.
Its no wonder Price has very little confidence. Its a team game and we have not been playing as a team lately.

I quoted his post with an "attaboy" and I've been optimistic this whole season. I don't remember many people thinking the Habs will lose in the playoffs, even the pessimistic fans were at kept at bay for once because we were an elite team at the trade deadline, and still are.
This team is young. This team has a lot of assets that will all be of use in the future to help build around this youthful core. Why on Earth would you trade some of those assets for a rental for the playoffs, or a plug? You're acting like this team has lost lately BECAUSE we didn't do anything at the trade deadline. No... we lost Emelin, we clinched the playoffs, and Price is going through a rough skid. With our outstanding drafting record, and a team who is just getting its feet wet in terms of NHL experience, why on EARTH would you want to get rid of picks and prospects just for the sake of making a trade?
It makes sense for teams like Pittsburgh to trade picks and prospects away for rentals, because they have a mature core that is already built and very experienced and don't need their prospects and picks as much. The Habs are still building, you don't trade away your assets for rentals, ESPECIALLY when they are one of the top teams in the league! You don't make trades for the sake of trading!! We dealt for some depth at defense, which is what we needed. No way we could've known we'd be without two top-4 defense, and even then we had the depth to make up for the loss.
Last night I vowed, "Okay, I'm taking a break from this $%#$@#!". Now here I am, back on this board.
From what I've seen the last week, the problem has little to do with the defense or offense. It has nothing to do with coaching adjustments, lines, or even lack of size. The last horrific eight days have come down to terrible goaltending. The Leafs didn't outplay us or out-chance us, neither did Philly, and even the Pens were average. We got creamed because Price (and Budaj) couldn't stop what they are supposed to stop. At least half the goals that have gone in have had NOTHING to do with bad defense -- Price just bombed. I have no explanation for what changed with him, but it's HIS performance that has almost singlehandedly let the air out of the Habs balloon.
And then by extension our D has started overcompensating, because they sense they can't rely on their goalie to make the save. They normally box out forwards and allow them to shoot from a safe distance; suddenly there IS no safe distance. I'm convinced that's why we've seen lapses from our D - because they're playing like it's a 60-minute PK. I hate dumping it all on Price, but that's how I see it. If he fixes whatever's wrong we can beat anyone; if he remains lost we may as well give up now. It really is all on him.

Don't waste your breathe on him, he simply doesn't understand what a calculated risk is. The habs lose their only D man that hits, and the team falls down behind him. Southern thinks if we had Murray, a player who was on a playoff team, traded him because they wanted to go with younger players. The habs are in the same position. I can't even begin to think that Murray could replace Emelin. This is why I am glad MB kept his highest picks. This team is not 2 trade deadline players away from contending.
