Who else has very little interest in the Four Nations tournament?

Russia is solidly entrenched in the top 4 moving forward, especially with the D prospects being produced. Nikishkin, Mintyukov, Simashev, Silayev, Gulyayev.

It’s Finland who is slipping big time. Their talent born 2000 and later is extremely thin.
Meh, considering that they won’t be allowed to compete for years to come, they’re not in any kind of “top”-list.

And, those are prospects. I’d take Heiskanen and 5 random Haakanpas (spelling) over any blueline the Russians put together

I’m mildly interested and would like to watch (as others have said it’s better than an all-star game) but honestly don’t know if/how it’s available where I live.
I was hoping that because it’s an NHL tournament the games would be included in my NHL.tv package but it appears not..

havent made an effort to figure out how to watch the tourney but if it involves streaming or different apps at weird times, there is a zero percent chance Ill watch it. Im interested but Ive been watching the caps since the 80s. I use to watch almost every game. Due to my living situation this year I have to figure out what app or stream the game is on and Ive given up on that shit. Ive probably watched 2 games all season including the one I went too. This is my old man yells at cloud moment but screw the NHL for making it so complicated with different apps and streams or subscriptions. Hockey is the niche sport, not the NFL. Make is easy to watch or watch it go away.

You can’t take Heiskanen, he’s injured. So all the Haakanpas wont save them. Nor is there anybody on Finland’s horizon to replace him as he ages, nor any of their elite players….…which was my point.

Russia will easily be entrenched in the top 4 when allowed to return. The country is churning out some really good talent as of late.

But if the country isn't on your personal “top” list, well, good for you champ.

Doubt they’ll be able to return as “Russia” though.

They really aren’t. Some talent, but their organisation is bush league and defense+centers are aweful. Good on you for thinking outside the box though!

Since in Finland Nelonen has the rights, I don't think I'll be watching it at all. Maybe Youtube highlights or something, but probably don't care enough about those, either.

I guess it's more time to work on statistical models without having to get distracted by NHL matches.

The fact that the USSR used to be allowed to compete but Russia today isn't is laughable and makes the whole tournament have a lame aura to it. Couple that with mega stars like Drai and Pasta not able to be showcased by the league and it's a complete failure. It should have been 6 teams with Russia and a conglomerate of the other European countries without enough NHL representation to have a full team making up the last one. Call it the NHL Nations Tournament

I can tell if you’re trolling or not but Russia has,4 or 5 top 4 NHL level defencemen, that blows anything Finland can roster out of the water. Especially with Heiskanen out now, Gavrikov, Sergachev, Provorov, Nikishin and Romanov is stronger

I don't understand hockey fans saying they are not really interested in this tournament. 4 nations faceoff is like pre Olympics and there's only 4 real hockey nations who can potentially win the Olympics. Czechia's, Germany, Swiss Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia have no chance of winning the Olympics next year. Adding players from inferior leagues like KHL, DEL, Liiga, SHL into the Olympics won't change the order in the big 4.

And for people complaining for not having more than 4 nations in this tournament, it's because there's only 4 nations that can ice a full roster with 23 players. Actually 5, but Russia can't play.

I think if we starting treating more like an all star replacement and not an Olympic replacement it'll help. Currently I don't really care. I want the US to do well but it really doesn't matter. It's not best on best without Russia anyways.

Still don't understand why this is a thing. More so since it's only 4 countries participating. What will the backlash be when a superstar gets hurt and is out for the season just so they can play these exhibition games during the season.

I'm more disappointed by the lack of fantasy hockey during this time than I am interested in watching the tournament.

Do we really have to wait until the war is over to get a best on best in hockey just because you can't include Russia in any international event? Think for a minute

Couldn't care less about it. Without Russia, Chechia and maybe a couple of others, it's silly. That said, I imagine I'll watch some games with the NHL shut down during the tournament. I think the US will take this.

It's four days away and the NHL doesn't even have information on how to watch outside of North American in general yet, let alone on NHL.TV

Clown show.

This is my approach, assuming it'll even be broadcast in Europe. I'll probably catch a game or two, but I honestly couldn't care less who wins (and I'm a die hard Canadian hockey fan). My money would also be on the U.S.A. though - goaltending and defence a big plus imo.

I'm warming up it to only because of how much I'd love to see a PP with McDavid, Mack and Crosby together, as just one example. If we're being honest, minus the teams that aren't in this, we will be watching the same rosters facing each other as they would if this was the Olympics, right?

Putting aside the politics and the pure cash grab/PR event that this is for Gary, I can still enjoy the hockey. It's not the Olympics, not even the WJC, but I'm certain these guys will be playing to win.

And if Gary (and the next commissioner) resist the urge to endlessly tinker with the formula (like the all-star game, literally every single year) this could build into something decent over the years. Note that I said 'decent'.

i was never big into the olympics and as of right now not overly interested in 4 nations. i guess it will depend on how it plays out. i suspect it will be a slightly more intense all-star game. i think players want to win but wont do anything that jeopardizes their health which will result in a game being played at about 70% intensity level.

I've been looking forward to this tournament for like a year now. Your negativity isn't going to stop me from enjoying the tournament.

Everyone I know and talk to in real life are looking forward to it as well. It seems it's mostly terminally online redditors who don't want to watch it.
