Decent chance they do take Sanderson yet at 5. They are looking at Quinn, Sanderson, Drysdale, and Raymond apparently there. Stützle + Sanderson would be a great 3+5 pick for them. Personally I'd love to see Stützle feeding Quinn or if one of them swapped wing Raymond and Stützle on the same line.

I mean, most of those critiques of Byfield land him at #2 anyway, but most of it comes from one publication in particular who teed off on him but no one else. It was very, very clearly targeted, pointed criticism inconsistent with what was written about literally any other prospect. I'm not going to go off on a tangent about systematic racism in hockey because that's neither here nor there in this case, there are plenty of reasons to have Byfield down the board. I think my big issue with criticism of both guys is well documented, in any year where Lafreniere wasn't ahead of them, people would be falling all over themselves to praise both guys to the ends of the earth; but instead, their biggest fault is that they're not lafreniere, who has been #1 so long it's boring, and so it's like people have to go out of their way to find reasons to peg Byfield and Stutzle down a notch instead of saying yeah they're awesome too. If Laf didn't exist and Byfield was ranked #1 instead, how would his draft profile read? I'm willing to bet a lot more at the Malkin angle a lot less at the flawed angle.

Ah, I suppose that's where I misunderstood. I did not realize it was referring to specific publication or service. I misinterpreted it as the skill set as a whole. So I'm sorry for bringing that up, I said earlier that when I look at prospects I probably weight IQ too high(won't know for sure till after this draft I suppose as I've never tried making my own projection till this year, probably do though)

Hmm, i have Hulu Live -- MSNBC but no NHL network. Guess i have 8 days to figure out how to watch/stream the NHL network for Oct. 7th.

And of course, the NHL doesn't have any way to stream NHL Network still, because the NHL is sooooo good at expanding their audience.

I keep feeling that Ottawa fans and those around the franchise are almost trying to will Byfield to them by either degrading him at #2 or pumping up Stutzle. It's just weird.

Be happy with what you get and move on. Kings fans for the most part were disappointed that we didn't get #1, then we moved on to the incredible opportunity we have at #2. Ottawa should feel the same way with having #3 and #5.

Not me. I genuinely hope that Stutzle falls to Ottawa at #3, and am quite aware of the reality that anything I say on Twitter, HFBoards, etc. has absolutely no impact on what happens. I would say that the general hope among Sens fans is to draft Byfield, but it's not an overwhelming consensus. I'd put it at 60-40.

I also recognize that both teams are extremely lucky to be in a position to draft either player. L.A. is in a separate conference, and they're a team I've enjoyed watching in the past. I have no reason to want L.A. to draft a bust or a disappointing player.

The fact that they seem very confident in their selection weeks ahead of the draft makes me feel secure in whoever they choose, unless it's not one of Byfield or Stutzle (or Raymond :naughty:)
