The definition of trolling varies daily around here though. General rule of thumb is that it's usually just the opposite of whatever the mods are saying. Moderators cannot troll by definition, apparently.

I don't know specifically what Moose was banned for, just what I heard through the grapevine. I'd advise you to be careful though, complaining about the mods was one of the last posts I can remember from Moose.

Back on topic, this thread's title was worded poorly perhaps. Should personal endorsments outside of hockey equipment be allowed on MLSE's dime? We could discuss that or we can all just complain about the thread.

As soon as players wear hats as part of their equipment then maybe we can discuss that......

My issue is he should be wearing only the Leaf hat while representing the Leafs.....what he wears afterwards is his business.

And who decides what he SHOULD wear during interviews? Clearly you are the only one so far among many Leafs fans here that seems to have problems with it yet you are pretending what you think is the right thing to do.

I understand endorsements.... what I do not like is the Captain is representing his own personal interests while representing the Leafs.....he is like the skiers who as soon as they finish and the camera is on them they quickly rip off their skis to show the brand that they use....

Do you respect tiger woods as an athlete? Or Sidney Crosby? Both have 2 of the largest endorsement deals with Nike and Reebok.... are they in the wrong? Both are representing their entire sport for ****s sake:laugh:

Are you *****ing just to *****?

So are you saying that since he is the caption of the leafs, he's not allowed to sign a sponsorship deal like other NHLers? Some players get more in sponsorship money then they do from their NHL contracts.

Captain or not he has the right to wear what ever hat he so choses. Next you are going to say that Dion Phaneuf must only wear hockey equipment that is no name

Nobody said he isn't entitled to endorsements, the OP is questioning whether or not endorsing something not linked to the sport itself is appropriate in the instance he mentioned. Do players have the right to wear whatever they want while on MLSE property and representing the Leafs? If Dion wore a "Who farted?" t-shirt, would something be said to him from the higher ups?

There's a discussion to be had here if we all try a little harder at it.
