No chance Freddy starts, and I've been hard on him for a lot longer than most people around here...

... but, his AHL appearance doesn't mean anything. It was like 4-5 periods, and even if he didn't allow any goals, that wouldn't mean much either.

I’ve tried to explain how garbage he’s been in other ways but some people just don’t understand.

I'm thinking Jack.

I think Fred gets the go ahead.

The line of thinking is "We should be able to win regardless".

I think Fred gets one loss in these playoffs. If he wins he'll get another shot.

is Mtl sitting Price? if yes, then we sit Campbell, if no, then we follow suit

Campbell if he’s fine health wise - we do know he’s playing through a nagging injury. Freddy only if we think Campbell really needs the rest.

I think with Campbell in net, we’re favourites to win the game, but with Freddy in net, we’re underdogs. Freddy has been real shakey all season, while Campbell has been rock solid, our odds to win are much, much better with Campbell. And this is a huge game - with a 3-1 lead we’re almost locks to move on, but 2-2, it’s anyone’s series. So IMO Campbell’s health concerns would have to be pretty significant for him to sit.

i mean edm started a 97 yr old goalie back to back and he played amazing in the 2nd game.

its the playoffs...you play your best players every game if they are healthy. soup should start.

Lol Andersen isn’t in the same tier as Price. They can’t be compared.

That's another conversation entirely, but I never suggested otherwise.

I just pointed out that your previous comment was moronic.

It really wasn’t. It was the final point of a long list of arguments against Andersen that I have posted in this thread.

But when all his defenders can say is “he deserves a shot cuz reasons”, you gotta find new ways to explain your point.

Cool, but you haven't really provided any good ones. I'm not even sure what you're trying to argue. I love Campbell, hands down think he should be our starter. But I just pointed out that Andersen's injury likely had an impact on his numbers. Maybe you responded to the wrong poster, I don't know. But you've said a number of things that don't really seem to have any correlation here. And then you went off about a 2 game AHL conditioning stint. It's not a great argument.

Why on Earth would the Leafs do anything to let the Canadiens back into the series?

This is not training camp.

The best choice is obvious -- unless our starter is not physically ready to play. Then start the other guy, and hope that Freddie doesn't crap the bed.

There is no need to rock the boat, when Jack has been good enough to win the last 2, why break that rythm? Unless Jack is dealing with something, you just roll until a team has his number. It's up to Andersen to be ready to go in and be a hail mary to stop another team

I'm in the camp who recognizes the difference between 3-1 or 2-2.

At this point I'm not messing with success.

I want the team to win and while I'm not one of those kind of posters who likes to poop on players in a classless manner I don't trust that we can win with Andersen anymore.

You gotta ride the hot hand. This is playoffs, not regular season. Put Jack in an ice bath after the game, and he's good. Just hope this game doesn't go 3 OTs or something.

Does it matter? Players always try to show their worth when they are playing for a contract. If we lose its 2-2 going back to Toronto with a rested Campbell. If we win its 3-1 with a rested Campbell.

Sorry Andersen deserves a shot. If it means helping Campbell recoop, I am willing to take the risk. We arent talking about giving Hutch the start like in years past.

Andersen is a starting caliber goaltender. Whether you like him or not. He's been there before and deserves a shot.

What do you mean when you say he “deserves” a start? Campbell is the goalie. Andersen is backing up. End of story

Not much for answering questions or exploring possibilities I see.

Fair enough, Freddie bad, Freddie not play for Leafs.

Campbell has something like a .950 what do you think Freddie is going to bring that is better than that?

Why are we inventing reasons to sit Campbell out? Unless this is just about someone wants to see their favorite player play? It makes no sense

There is all the reason in the world to start Freddy are you kidding.

Up 2-1 in games.
Campbell hasnt played back to back all season.
Campbell is fragile and we cant afford to lose him rest of the series.
Team has played well with Freddy in net before.
Freddy is playing for contract.
Montreal cannot score.

Campbell should not start in net tonight. Not a chance.

If Freddy comes out and shits the bed in first period you pull him right away with 2 periods to play. There is no upside in playing Campbell tonight and risking injury. Price playing tonight is a stretch as well having not played in almost 2 months.
This is so weird to me.

Campbell’s so fragile that he can’t start a B2B BUT if (when?) Freddy shits the bed Soup can play the next 2 periods? When the Leafs are already down 3 goals? Got it.

LOL

that has nothing to do with a Leafs team that got better defensively and shaved a 1 goal off their goals against this season.

BTW Freddy was .921 even strength this season. His numbers were hurt on the PK when the Leafs were bottom 5.

The best penalty killer on the team should be the goalie. Andersen’s play has a lot to do with how good the PK% is

Son, you missed the point four posts ago and still haven't caught it. Let's move on.

Hopefully Jack is good to go.

You’re trying to think your way through some 4d chess. There’s no need.

Go leafs go!

It's not 4D anything, it could not be simpler.

There is ONE circumstance that Andersen could start....Campbell's health.

Why that is so difficult for you to comprehend should worry you a little.
