Every couple years this thread comes up and I always say Kenny Albert.

A lot of people wanted Howie Rose but it feels like with each passing year that doesn't happen, that it won't happen.

Reactions: Ola and Number 9
I feel like Kenny is ok, but I dunno, Sam has a classic voice. They need someone else like him. Voice and excitement level is more important than technical proficiency as evidenced by the fact that Sam said Zibanejad made a glove save the other night.

Howie has his own health issues and doesn't even call full Mets games anymore.

My ideal would be bring in some fresh voice for road trips, ease Sam out.

Yeah, Howie isn’t an option. He’s already on record saying he’s pretty much done calling the Mets at least in a full time capacity once his contract is up in a few years.

Isn’t kenny albert a national broadcaster? I don’t think he’ll be too enticed by being the primary Rangers broadcaster

Mike Richter
Henrik Lundqvist

But seriously I bet it'll be Kenny Albert, John Giannone or Maloney

It’s a good question though. I guess they’ll have to start easing someone in soon.
Maybe an Adam Graves or Matt Barnaby type?

Kenny is TNT's #1 play by play guy but also the Rangers primary radio guy. When Sam retires Kenny will do both just like Doc did for all those years with FOX/ABC/NBC and the Devils.

Another example is Mike Breen. He does Knicks and ESPN.
