Well they're more likely to win polls as it is so it wouldn't shock me.

The biggest bozo I can remember for Edmonton was Rafi Torres. After we lost in the SCF he got resigned for something like 2.2-2.7M per year for 3-4 years and he totally changed his playing style. After signing that contract he got this crazy idea in his head that he was a top 6 forward who was supposed to score on the rush. I think he was top 10 in the league in shots that year (could be wrong, but it seemed like he got a ton of shots on net) and he had as little patience with the puck as a pewee player.

Give him the puck and he'd skate it 3-10 feet into the offensive zone and he'd be sure to take a shot before anyone from either team was in front of the net. It didn't result in many offensive zone face-offs because he didn't have a hard shot. It was so easy for the goalie to smother his shots and instantaneously distribute it to a teammate. I can't remember what we traded him for, but we traded him away and he started playing dirty and shopped shooting so often and then the suspensions racked up and he quickly became the player he was remembered to be when he retired.

There's my choice for bozo.

Sean Avery has gotta be up there, but it's not as much for his on ice play. I'm convinced that his off ice antics, nonsense and personality made him hard to appreciate and it ruined his career. I thought he was really talented and a viable 2nd line forward before everyone in the league had gotten sick and tired of his routine.

Rick Depietro should be up there. Sorry if I killed the spelling there. I'll never forget he'd been on the shelf due to injuries for a dog's age and it was his first or second game back and he gets in a fight and breaks his hand. I was flat out speechless when I saw the highlights later that night. Flat out couldn't believe a goalie who should recognize that he's fairly injury prone thought it the right choice to get into a fight right after coming back from a serious injury. Crazy stuff. Made for some good laughs. Don't need to feel sorry for the guy. He's still making money from the buyout and he's got a good gig in NY these days.

Not sure but I think you're referencing when DP broke his jaw fighting PIT packup Brent Johnson. Absolute Bozo. He also famously broke his head diving out to the blueline to prevent a breakaway and accidentally kicked, and blew out his hip and an all star game. Complete bozo. Unfortunate ebcause he had a lot of potential.

Also fought Al MOntoya in a preseason game.

I think you're right. I went and looked at his injury history and I was 100% certain that he broke his hand on the other dude's face, but there's no mentioning of a broken hand in his injury history.

I'm just glad I got to read the Christmas story about how that one poster f***ed Kris Letang.
