Arizona
Toronto
Pittsburgh
Vancouver (I know it’s a one of the best places to live; but too many odd decisions and rumors about cancers in the locker room)

All the prairie teams in Canada, they are just too small markets for me.

But, I don't really want to give opinions on cities I haven't been to. Of the markets I've been to, I'd absolutely be partial to Toronto, Chicago, and NYC (Been to Van, but quite indifferent on it, love MTL but it's behind those 3). If I'm making the types of money the NHLers are, I want amenities comparable to Toronto when it comes to dining, cultural events, and nightlife, with great downtown cores that are livable (I don't want to live in some boring suburban village, that you could place anywhere). But, that's me. To others, it doesn't matter if you are going out for TJI Fridays somewhere in Westchester County or in some suburb of Buffalo, St. Louis or Columbus.

To be honest, there are maybe 5 to 10 markets at most in the NHL that actually intrigue me, but I don't want to put down specific cities I haven't been to. Of the ones I've been to outside previously mentioned, Montreal, Boston, and the Bay Area are great (Dallas and Van I don't object to, but I'm not lining up to move to either). I grew up in a sizable city, with a vibrant core, great food and entertainment options, and is somewhere between the 3-6th (Measuring CMA equivlants in Canada has it issues) biggest area between Canada and United States.

Every Canadian team is on my NMC. Bad weather, high taxes, annoying media.

I'll also add Philadelphia because of their silly fans and organization, and St Louis because of the city itself. Final spot goes to Chicago because I don't like it.

I would play anywhere. They're paying me right?
Reminds me of an interview I saw with this NBA free agent a few years back named Ed Davis. Some woman is asking him about factors going into his decision of where to play. She asks about climate, playing time, coaches, etc.

Davis says " the only thing that will factor into my decision is the size of my paycheck"

If I had to choose. No particular order just numbering for organization lol

1. Winnipeg -
2. Calgary
3. Edmonton
4. Vancouver
5. Ottawa
6. Montreal
7. Seattle
8. San Jose
9. Anaheim
10. Los Angeles

I would have had Toronto above Seattle but Seattle is far from home for me (Long Island) and Toronto is a lot closer. Would Hate the travel of the west.

Dallas Stars
Florida Panthers
Vegas Golden Knights
Nashville Predators
Seattle Kraken
Tampa Bay Lightning

for lack of taxes
Shocked at Seattle. Seemed like a city you would like

I'll give a solid 10... Might hurt some feelin's, but it's all based on my personality and penchant toward hating the media.

1. Toronto - I don't want to be anywhere near that level of media attention.
2. Montreal - I speak some French, but damn, that media x2, no thanks, at least its in two languages to be "quaint"
3. Edmonton - See Toronto, only lesser
4. Vancouver - See above, and I like the Canucks... but no.
5. Dallas - I've been there. No thanks.
6. Florida - I'm not a big fan of any part of Florida, but the Miami Suburbs are a "no thanks" from me. money or not.
7. Winnipeg - It's just not terribly appealing of a place to live for me. No mountains, no salt water, etc.
8. New York Rangers - Too urban for my taste.
9. Columbus - See Winnipeg, but with better weather
10. Washington - I despise politics. This is a bad place for me to even visit.
Lmao, then don’t go to Miami? I don’t unless I’m paid to. The team is well north of Miami in Sunrise.

1) Arizona. They don’t have a rink.

2) Vegas. Management has no loyalty to players, not a traditional hockey market, and I’d rather not live at the gambling capital of the world.

3) Winnipeg. Too cold and remote with team not looking to contend.

4) Calgary. Too cold and distant with the team struggling.

5) Columbus. Smaller market and team is not looking to contend.

6) San Jose. The team is not good.

at the moment, canadian cities, though it mostly has nothing to do with the cities or teams themselves. i'd love to play in van/tor/mtl for sure, i think i'd like cgy and ott but never been and don't know a ton about, not so sure about edm/win. nothing against them just sound like smaller cities and that's just too damn cold for too long. without opening pandoras box of the conversation, just for myself personally, i would not want to be there the way things are being run currently, esp given my family is all in the us.

if i was a vet - coyotes. don't think any young guys are gonna complain about being at arizona st tho

vegas - nothing to do with team, i just can barely survive a weekend there

possibly columbus - being surrounded by slow left lane driving ohio st mouthbreathers and the sun never shining just doesn't sound great. but a lot of people love the area so it's 50/50.

Dallas, Nashville, Tampa, Florida, Carolina, Vegas, Arizona

No desire to live in the south, nor the desert.

Looks like most HF posters dont like pressure or high performance in their fields. Doesnt surprise me lol.

Also NHL players are paid in USD, so cost of living actually favours a NHL player in Canada
Yes, I'm sure people who can't relate to the pressure of being a pro hockey player in Canada were absolutely thinking about the media pressure as their main reason they wouldn't want to play in Canada lol. There can't be another reason.

Also, cost of living in Vancouver and Toronto is absolutely absurd sooooo, what?

There certainly are more reasons but note I said "most" in my post. You only live around 120-150 days in the city you play in. You're either on the road or its summer for the rest.

Obviously, at face value Van and Tor are expensive to live in but this is diminished by 30% or so when youre paid in USD.

And then increased when you pay the Canadian tax rate...
