I agree, it just works better in black.Yes, miles better. Can't really explain why it just doesn't work in red to me
Try that one with red pants.
This looks great. I don't know that the combining of identities in a jersey in something they would ever really do or should do but this looks dope. I unironically love the devils in red and green though too so what do I know
That would be amazing.Try that one with red pants.
Someone needs to write a plug-in to the NHL games to accept these mockups directly as in-game textures.
In a roundabout way you should be able to, but you'll have to go through the Creation tool in order to do so. They should have the templates from all the Canes and Whalers styles in it. For the logos, they have the current Canes main logo in NHL logos, and they have the old single flag alternate as well as the Whalers logo (one we currently use, not the 90s one with silver backing) in the Historical logos section. Only frustration is that we can't use the current 2 flag alternate and none of the jerseys would have the NHL shield on the neck. Also, I don't believe our current nameplate and number font is loaded in, but our original one is, as well as both the original and 90s Whalers fonts.Someone needs to write a plug-in to the NHL games to accept these mockups directly as in-game textures.
Given the tweet below, I doubt the Canes would be able to ever use your design if they wanted:So at one point I had this....

I thought it looked a little too thin for my liking so I thickened up the C...

Still didn't quite turn out how I was hoping. Maybe turning it red to be more like the NWS logo?

I dunno. Just something about them that doesn't seem to work well. Maybe it could use a little polishing, but I am not sure you can do anything that would be particularly strong as a logo and doesn't come across as clipart.
What if the Canes used this as a logo for a alt jersey.

I am all about this. Where do I order it?

Kind of ridiculous that Montreal feels they can sue a team whose actual initials are “CH” for using an interlocking CH.
Nothing about the two logos is even comparable other than the the letters in a broadly similar arrangement. The font and colors are so different as to be non-comparable, and the Hornets logo is broken up by a bee in the middle of it. Not to mention a picture of an actual basketball and the huge word CHARLOTTE across the bottom, making it impossible that anyone could be confused as to which logo is which.I don't see it as ridiculous. Companies take branding and their logos (which are usually protected by trademarks) very seriously. If a company called International Boat Manufacturing decided to make a logo that was IBM with some sort of bars through the letters, I guarantee you that the company International Business Machines would sue and win in court.
I get that many sports logos are comparable though (The G for the Green Bay Packers and the G for Georgia Bulldogs for instance). The Packers hold the trademark and Georgia reached out to the Green Bay Packers and got permission from the Packers to use the similar logo with slight modifications. Same goes for Grambling.
The use of CH with the interlocking CH would certainly cause the Canadiens to either sue, or come to some sort of agreement as I suspect they hold the trademark on that.
EDIT: I may be coming from a different POV since I spent 2 years of my career negotiating licensing and joint development deals in the tech industry. I spent almost every day of those 2 years with IP/patent attorneys so got to see the kind of stuff they go through on patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc....
That (in bold) is the key though. Same letters in a similar arrangement.Nothing about the two logos is even comparable other than the the letters in a broadly similar arrangement. I get that there would still be a lawsuit because there’s always a lawsuit, but it’s just ludicrous that no other sports team should ever again be able to use “CH” in their logo because one team is calling it their intellectual property. It’s like the University of Michigan declaring that yellow Ms are their intellectual property and suing McDonald’s.
To springboard: it falls on the trademark holder to themselves take care that their TM protection remains effective. Once you have determined what is the Thing in your trademarked logo, you have to protect it yealously to ridiculous ends.Trust me, these teams/companies view their brands and logos very seriously and do whatever it takes to protect them.
