Penguins should but their GM is a turd.

We have no business going all in. We don't have the assets and we are not a contender to me. At least three teams in the east are better. We have a stale core and we need major changes in the offseason. Going all in has cost us recently. Its dumb to do so.

Hextall wont make any changes next summer either. He will change up one or two bottom six guys and call it an off season. He will preach patience but it’s simply laziness.

Colorado Avalanche will go all in this season. A lot of answers Sakic need to find.
I think his wish list should be :
1 - A goalie (Fleury)
2- A top 6 players (Giroux, Pavelski, Laine)
3- A #4 Def if Byram season over
4-Bottom 6 player with grit (Clutterbuck, Tierney etc)

Unlike Vegas and Tampa, the salary cap is real for some teams.

Dallas went from getting the bristol board and markers to make a "GARAGE SALE" sign, to hanging around to the WC chase long enough that they're probably going to load up for the playoffs - even with their list of top pending UFAs that many thought would be shipped out.

They haven't traded a first round pick in about fifteen years, but maybe that changes if Jim Nill does decide to go all in. :dunno:

Kuemper has been fantastic since returning from injury. So no goalie. Yes I want us to grab a top six player. Adding in the top six will bump a guy down into the bottom six that will improve it so no need for another one there. I wouldn't mind adding a bottom 4 dman as well.

ehhhh, I think it’s been so long since Avs fans have seen “fantastic” out of a goalie that “adequate” is being misrepresented.

(I haven’t missed an Avs game since Nov)

they could still upgrade significantly; get a goalie that could steal them a game or two

I'm thinking the Avs too. Kadri won't be re-signed, and Mac's mega contract is due in 1.5 years time.

The Canucks have everything you're asking for though, except for that #4 D. Miller, Halak and Motte fit your needs.

I’d expect Avs to shoot higher than Halak for a goalie.

Florida, Tampa, Colorado, Carolina should go all in. Everyone else is chasing them and I’m never a huge fan of huge deadline moves as it takes time to build chemistry and late additions can impact the room etc.

if I’m Toronto, Minnesota, NYR, etc I’m willing to move a 1st or a prospect maybe but not both and I would want it to be someone who isn’t a pure rental. The top teams are really strong this year

Colorado's been considered as contenders for a few years but never went as far as expected.

They're one team I could see going all-in.

Toronto would be one team I could see doing it too.
Not sure they'll go for a rental but pay a steep price for a very good player with terms I could see happen.
A RHD?

Good things are not always going to pan out at playoff time . Do you really think this is the tandem to go all the way ?

Yes. Avs need to get more grit and toughness in their d group and maybe a forward as as well. And add a cheap vet goalie in case something happens to Kuemper/Francouz. Avs weakness is they still play with too much flash and lesser skilled teams can wear them down in the playoffs. They also need to be better on the PK.

Good luck to whoever does it. But IMO if the core that you built is not good enough to win the cup, making a big trade is not going to do it.
All in sounds like you are trading all of your prospects.

who should make a push to fill a need? Multiple teams should consider it.

think colorado should with Kadri having the year he is and being a ufa that they can’t afford.
