Reading comprehension is not your strong suit eh?

I never said I cared about his family - just provided his reasoning, which I happen to agree with.

For “just a dude playing a game on a team you like” you’re acting like a f***ing child.

He negotiated his contract and can manipulate that, along with his agent, however he wants to whatever end he wants. It was mutually agreed upon.

The whispers of not reporting, though, really aren't cool if true.

Yes, and you’d think by now most of us would take what the media reports, and rumors with a grain of salt - but apparently not.

Well, Brooks was pretty firm on that they were true but Vince was equally firm that it was bullshit. Hard to know what to think at this point.
One is a gossip columnist, the other is a reporter.
Not really that hard.

I dont expect to get news from the national enquirer.

If he refuses to report then the team he's refusing to report to can either terminate the contract or sit and wait until he does report and his contract doesn't age. The team doesn't matter. If he doesn't report to the Rangers, or any other team, that holds true.
Except the rangers wouldn't send him down to the AHL because its pointless, and does nothing positive for them, and he would report to the rangers.

So your imaginary scenario where he didnt report to the rangers doesn't exist.

You agree with contract circumvention? He basically robbed the team because he no doubt agreed to a higher AAV so that his NTC becomes limited. You defending that says more about you than me.

The contract circumvention is alleged, not proven. But because of your disdain for Trouba, you've taken it as gospel. I'm not even a fan of Trouba, but your reaction to all of this is so over the top it's comical.

This is such a weird situation. Usually fans are too optimistic, favoring their team, not seeing the issues. But not Rangers fans. Every year they hate and hate and hate. All the other teams don't have the myriad issues we do. We suck. Our players suck, out coach sucks, our G sucks. We need to move everyone.

Then I go to the Athletic and lo and behold their writing staff STILL has the Rangers as a favorite to make the finals and a 1 in 6 shot to win the cup. Don't they see how absolutely awful we are? I guess maybe they haven't overreacted to a slump. Or they know nothing but all out Vinnie's from Brooklyn are hockey geniuses.

Damn
Just a fact.
Ranger fan’s are the smartest, best dressed, best looking and most modest of all sports fans.
Hockey writers, NHL Scouts and NHL FO staff get all their good information from reading our boards.
Suck it Bettman.

Oh, did I mention nicest.
Definitely the nicest.

The team isn't the point. The point is that "contract termination" isn't an automatic and isn't a team's only recourse.

The Rangers absolutely could send him the AHL because his NMC is now a partial NTC and they might be pissed that his agent (might've) thrown around that he's not going to report anywhere if a deal was in place.

Cooler heads prevailed and this didn't take place.

The scenarios exist. Not sure why you're taking a weird stand on this.

It's also clearly not contract circumvention because if it happened, and it was, that would surely be grounds to terminate the contract. What it is, is a smart way to use leverage.

Wow. Do you work for the post?

Brooks was gifted membership for his reporting back in the 90s when he actually had a close relationship to the org and then again in the 00s when he was sathers mouthpiece.

Brooks is textbook old school “skill is bad”
Brooks doesn’t understand modern hockey.
Brooks has zero connections in the org anymore.

The crippling Zib extension & the pending Igor extension don't predate him. This team is going to be a fake contender for the next 5 years because of those 2 deals alone.

I hated that deal before the ink was dry, solely on the way it was structured with the NMCs & the signing bonuses. It's one thing to commit to a player, but why hamstring the team completely by making the contract both immovable & buyout proof?
And remember, it is bern speaking the truth, despite derision from some, that we have to maintain a no NMC policy for anyone/everyone. Period. We can be flexible with significant NTCs on a player by player situation basis, but no NMCs.

This NMC prob, btw, is result of win now -> instant gratification, and we see where that has goten us.

How we get zegras? We need this

As I posted earlier, am open to Zeg, not sure he is a slam dunk option, but getting him for 1C forces step 1 Zib to 1RW which might solve/short term fix chem issues w/Kreider and first line, and step 2, sets up Zib to be moved and him to accept it.

Think it would have to be a core of KAM + Othmann + for Zegras ++.
I propped a 5 for 5 asset swap, but instead of focusing on merits of quality of the deal and to what extent is that a win win for both teams, a loud voice has wrongly pushed a false narrative that the deal cannot possibly be considered due to quantity number of pieces.

Don't let that, or any other, voice silence you.

floor open to discussion...
why?

I highly doubt that. And Vince's only "connection" is putting the email he gets from the NYR PR team into ChatGPT.

Brooks has much less incentive to be a mouthpiece for the org than Vince who you seem to take as the beacon of accuracy.

Generally don’t care for these guys but I’m glad this is gaining traction

Athanisiou is being placed on waivers today, one of the top 5 fastest skaters in the league
When do we ever pick up guys like this off of waivers .

I’ll bet my life that we don’t even kick the tires

Lindgren needing a maintenance day after 8 healthy games and it's not even mid-November. His presence in the top 4(and really top 6 D) is an existential issue.

Also as far as our intrepid beat writers go, Brooksie is a dinosaur who still thinks a "checking line" is something Cup winners have (and lost his source in the organization when Ramsey got shitcanned). Mollie is in LaLa land 110% of the time. Vince steals all his content from HFBoards and his only real "sources" in the organization are the players he carries water for. Staple & Stephenson are too lazy to even mention seriously. There is no good place for Rangers news and analysis anymore because the mainstream media types suck and the bloggers and podcasters have clear agendas and bias. This board is undoubtedly the best place for critical thinking regarding the team.
