Based on the goaltenders in the market who should we go after ? Are we better off keeping Freddy til the end of the year or making a move now ? I personally believe if we want to be a contender, we make some sort of deal now. The group is playing well enough to contend if we had a competent goalie in net. Campbell may be that guy, but it's clear Freddy definitely isn't that guy. Who should we pursue and why ?

Lehner, please. He's another head case but much less of a sulky p***y.

Literally any one of them. Whoever will be the cheapest in a trade I suppose. It’s hard to do worse than what we’ve currently got.

I like Dubnyk for THIS year, but going forward out of that group Gibson may be the best chance for long term. He's been awful the last couple years, but he's only 27. If the price is right he might be worth a shot. Voted Dubnyk though, he's older but has been playing better recently, not really much risk with his contract either.

I clicked on Korpisalo but then saw Gibson.

If you trust that Gibson is just a victim of circumstances on a bad Anaheim team, I would think very hard about taking the all-in futures package and saving it for the goalie changing position. Fred will be gone and we can transition to a starter in his mid 20s with a great pedigree and track record.

I don't think it will matter cause no team will give any assets up for Andy and we will probably have to take a bad contract back ... so just stick with him till the end of this season and after the draft play the landscape see whats out there an for what price !!!

What team has acquired a starting goalie before the deadline and gone on to do damage in the playoffs?

Lol, every one of those goalies except Lehner have been significantly worse than Andersen the last few seasons or are unlikely to be able to handle a starting position.

I get itd be nice to grab a goalie, but its so unlikely mid-season to get one that's an improvement. Gotta hope Campbell can take over or Fred can bounce back.

Assuming you mean in the off-season? Cause unless a miracle happens it aint happening this season.

I picked other, because I don't feel any of those guys are truly better than what we have and none of them have ever won anything.

I do like that Korpisalo is winning and has a reputation as a good goalie because of the playoffs against us.

The guy is a bad goalie.

I would be shocked to the point of near-permanent speechlessness if Dubas dealt for a starter before the deadline. A .650-ish winning percentage team replacing it's non-(seriously)injured/non-disgruntled/non-trade-demanding starter mid-season? Plus, Andersen would have to be dealt to free up the cap space (and because, well, he probably wouldn't be a lot of fun to have around after the GM took his starter role away).

If it did happen, once I recovered enough to see the news, I wouldn't be disappointed to see Korpisalo heading to Toronto for a 14-day quarantine. But with the Jackets hanging around he may not be available in the short-term or at all.

Gibson? One can dream, but that's a post-season move as the Ducks would want an impact player in return. A GM would have to have stones of stone to make that move, again, mid-season.
