Canada. But it's just a game of numbers and obviously not something inherently Canadian.

Just Google "most nationalistic/patriotic countries in the world" and you have your answer.

So that would be either USA or Russia in this case, I assume? I must say I find neither of them to be particularly annoying.

As a finn it used to be Sweden. But they have become much less tocic against Finland the better our players have gotten.

Finland has a few trolls on these boards, put four People on your ignore list and you'll like the rest of us!

Canada is my vote, lots of quality fans but quite a few butthelmets, peobably because of their sheer numbers. They stand out. Usually not so humble and not so knowledgeable about players who haven't played the majority of their career in the NHL

CANADA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s Finland by a country mile, small numbers with a large percentage being strongly biased, insecure, and extremely vocal.

After that it’s close between the US, Canada Sweden and Russia. I’d say Canada simply based off of the numbers alone (giant fanbase = more dopes), but I’d wager the US has a higher percentage of dopes per capita, and a certain kind of insecurity about Hockey that causes a healthy portion of their fanbase to be loud and annoying, which I think has a lot to do with their little brother being better than them at something. They are the authors of some of the worst fan violence, warning of “taking over” hockey for 30 years, and USA chants during NHL play; A Canadian sport with international representation. So they 2nd.

You can put the names of the other three in a hat for 3rd as there are arguments for and against each. Ultimately, in most cases, a nation will possess a roughly equal percentage of “annoying fan”.

I've never seen a group of fans more biased to their country's prospects than the Fins. Laine/Matthews, Kakko/Hughes, etc.

Another vote for Finns from a Finn. There's quite a few very vocal posters that in a very specific way walk a fine line between "just being passionate" and trolling, where you can't really distinguish if they're being serious. I'm also saddened when people lump all Finnish posters in that category; there's many good, humble, neutral Finnish users too, but they don't obviously attract that much attention.

It's kinda weird how hockey is the only sport or overall thing where I see this behaviour; sure, Finns tend to be quite nationalistic and will appear everywhere where Finland is mentioned, but usually the troll-esque element isn't there so prominently.

If you take away the posters on HFboards... and look at the real world. Finn's and Canadians are both known to be amongst the nicer countries in the world for behavior. Now toss in hockey, a basement, booze and a keyboard... monsters!lmao

While I enjoy rooting for the plucky underdog that has become a regular medal contender, the body of Finn fans do here have a well-earned reputation around HF for their conduct.

Wow Finns and Canadians really are getting the most feedback on this site according to the poll. Also both countries seem to have the most self-critical posters. I must admit I'm surprised by the Finnish votes a bit compared to Sweden for example who have their own trolls, but when it comes to being biased, I gues I've just skipped the Laine/Matthews type threads because I couldn't care less. Outside of Canada and USA, Finns and Swedes probably represent most of the posters here especially on hockey-cathegory of the site. For example, if I think about a Czech posters, only one could come into my mind (It's a combination of a nationality and gender).

What I think is that the trolls or the most biased posters get majority of the attention and this attention leaves its' footprint on the readers. This results as a very negative opinion on the poster and not only him/her but what is his backround because we try to understand why would someone have so opposite type of opinion as we have. In other words I think the trolls do more damage than the good posters do good and this damage is reflected strongly on posters nationality or favourite team.

For Canada, there's a contingent who follow all international hockey tournaments regularly (you know who you are), and then there's the fly-by-night'ers who come in for the Gold Medal game and trash everyone afterwards, win or lose, only to disappear again for the year.
Some of the finns who only come for the championships are also horrible. People need to curate their ignore lists.

I voted Finland, that Laine saga was absolutely insane...

BUT, to Finns credit, they do love their hockey and they put out some of the best Youtube content when it comes to tracking Finnish players. Many prospects out there have shift by shift videos uploaded to Youtube, love that type of stuff.

Tough call, they all have a terrible segment of posters when they are losing and each one has their own particular M.O.

Canadians: It's our game, if only we had all our best players here, we're the best always and forever................bow at our feet.

U.S: we don't take this game seriously and if we did we would rule the world in this as in everything else, consider yourself lucky you peons.

Finland: Count your blessings we are so small or none of you would have a chance, over the top winter war references, prospect thread invasions on a level the likes you have never seen when a player is perceived to be in competition with one of their own.

Russia: we lost therefore you must have cheated somehow, the whole world is against us, the evil western world is out to destroy Russian hockey and eradicate it from the roots up.

Sweden: The refs are killing us, especially those Canadian ones, why are we always getting ripped off? Those Canadians, those god damned Canadians, they are always looking to hurt our players.
.
Czechs are Slovaks are usually quite fine around here but then they don't have much to cheer about or be disappointed about these days, expectations are very low. But don't let that fool you, if they were still very good they would be a pain in the ass too and I can attest to this from experiencing them in their halcyon days on the old IIHF chat boards during the world championships before they were unceremoniously shut down due to all the foolishness.
This....is....accurate.
