Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they all made it.

At least a dozen or more are mortal locks and from the rest most are still young enough that they have (prime) years to make their case (Kaprizov & Matthews for example).

The only guy I have question about is Erik Karlsson. Everyone else I think has a good shot.
He’s a lock imo, every 2x or more winner is in but Keith, who will get in.
He has 3 Norris’s and twice runner up,

I'm not even a huge EK65 fan but this is a really bad take.

On my personal list, all aside from MAF, Marchand, Kaprizov, Rantanen, Panarin, and Pastrnak.
I think all 6 of those guys are going to have enough in their resumes when it's all said and done.

MAF has probably the weakest case but Vegas probably gets him in.

I voted for all of them. I’d be surprised if every single one didn’t get into the hall. The only ones that even give me pause are Fleury and Rantanen, but if guys like Carbonneau and Lowe can make it then they’re getting in too.
Panarin....?

Dude is already 33 years old, and has 804 career points.

Not to mention he hasn't really done much for his resume in the playoffs, 61 points in 73 playoff games.

the only forwards I question is Pasta and Marchand who may finish with the lowest PPG amongst the forwards (other than Barkov who has Selkes)

3 Norrises and (surely) 1000 points gets you into the HOF, no question

in 687 GP, which puts him 5th in PPG amongst active players, and is currently 13th all-time in assists/game

many have got in the Hall with lower GP (Bossy, Lindros, Bure, Forsberg, Lafontaine, Stastny etc)

He didn’t even arrive in the NHL till 24. During the time he’s been in the league, he’s 5th in assists (ahead of Crosby).

Unless something bad happens, he’ll easily blow past 1000 and finish closer to 1200 or so despite his very late start. He’s been named the top LW in the league twice and finished 2nd two other times. As low as the bar is, there’s no reason he shouldn’t get in.

Is being ahead of those guys in playoff PPG really that horrible? @amnesiac @tarheelhockey

Panarin hasn’t even been particularly bad in the playoffs, he just doesn’t have a signature run. He was in the PPG range in 16, 18, 19, 20, 24. His 2022 looks a little weaker than you’d want, but that had a lot to do with facing Jaccob Slavin for 7 games in between going PPG in two other series.

The blemishes on his resume are 2017, when Chicago as a team scored 3 total goals while getting dusted by Nashville, and the 2023 NYR/NJD series. The 2023 series is the real black eye, getting completely shut out after the first period of Game 1 of a seven game series. That’s just ugly. But it was one series. As a whole, his playoff career has been pretty ordinary but without that shining moment.

 Are you sure you want to go down that road? You're the one who brought up playoff PPG. In reality and by your own argument Panarin is better than Modano, Barkov, and Kopitar in playoff PPG. In all my years here I've never seen someone get so completely trashed (by @amnesiac and @tarheelhockey) and then just keep digging the hole deeper. Just stop now while you're behind and enjoy your 30th bday, kid.

That’s not really true. The point totals might look not that bad, but he’s been one of the best regular season players over the last five years and in the playoffs is nowhere near that. It’s especially true at even strength. It’s a substantial difference. The lack of space is a problem. He doesn’t adapt well to that, and gets snuffed out a lot. He’s actually had some very clutch moments, but on the whole his lack of production is arguably the biggest reason the Rangers haven’t won the Cup. You can’t just turn a potential MVP candidate into an okay second line winger and act like that changes nothing.

Jeesh, you're taking HF way too serious pal, my apologies for offending you.

Considering how long and how often you post on HF, if that's your definition of "completely trashed" that's quite something.

31% of people that have voted agree with you, I hope that doesn't burn you up too much inside.

Here are the names of non-slam dunks:

Brad Marchand
Barkov
Rantanen
Panarin
Kaprizov
Pastrnak

Everyone else is 100% a lock. A few are still young (ie Makar), so it's maybe not a "hall of fame if you retire today" scenario, but still, he's obviously making it.

As for the 6 names I listed - the all still have excellent chances to make hall of fame. I just wouldn't say it's 100%.

Kaprizov/Panarin are both hurt by starting late, age ~23-24. This means longevity won't be as strong as others. Also - no individual awards, and playoffs are weak as of now. Flipside is - prime numbers are great so far (still early for Kaprizov).

Pastrnak/Rantanen are pretty comparable. Both pretty strong primes, good point producers. Both decent in playoffs (Rantanen especially strong here). But neither of them is likely to ever win a hart, lindsay, ross. So, a bit of a weaker resume than most players listed here, but it'll probably be enough for hall of fame with good longevity.

Marchand - Really strange career arc. Before age 28, his average per 82 games was 52 points.
Then he has a stretch of 6 seasons where he paces for ~99 points per 82 games.
But he then slows down at age 34, and last 3 years is pacing for ~69 points.

He had a really strong stretch of ~5-6 seasons, but his overall career outside of that is not that strong. I think it's 50/50 he makes it, and he's the player here with the weakest resume for me.

Barkov - There's nothing terribly exciting about his resume. He often gets compared to Toews, Kopitar or Bergeron. Bergeron is the best defensively with 6 selkes and 12 top 3. Toews/Kopitar both have the multiple cups/great playoff record. Barkov doesn't have anything quite as exciting. He's up to 2 selke now, but only 3 top 3 total. No real hart record, only one 6th place finish, and nothing else in the top 10. His playoff record is also much weaker than Toews or Kopitar, even though last year's run was great.

I think Barkov will eventually make it too - but let's see what the next few years look like for him.

After Marchand - I think he's the player with the second weakest resume here.
