Germany might be really a top 6-7-8 nation soon

- but Eye of Ra et al seem to forget that Germany did beat Sweden in the last Olympics and Sweden has been pretty awful in the latest two World Championships - that's why Germany is ranked above Sweden atm

yes its true. if we gonna go after og and latest 2 wc, then sweden ranked 7 makes sense.

but that og did not even have nhl players thought.

sweden have problems that we have too many players in nhl and ahl, we have never been weaker if you look at euro level players. without nhl players i would rank sweden beetween 11-15 in the world

Would be cooler with a top 6 round robin. Everyone meet twice once at home and once away, and the winner of the series is crowned world champion.

How about teams like this:

Ontario (14,7mil)
Quebec (8,6mil)
Rest of Canada (14,7mil)

New York (19,3mil)
Michigan (9,9mil)
Wisconsin (5,8mil)
Minnesota (5,7mil)
Rest of USA (287,5mil)

Moscow City&Oblast (20,3mil)
Rest of Russia (124,1mil)

Czech (10,6mil)
Sweden (10,2mil)
Finland (5,5mil)

Finland would be smallest by population but we would do our best!

Hehe i would say Sweden is top 3 without NHL players with only Euro player's or atleast top 5. Russia,Finland Sweden/Canada would be top 4

no. we have too many players in north america. last wc and olympics is clearly evidence of that
Hmm didnt Swe have much declinations players missing from KHL NLA and SHL at World's? and they aren't really that bad lost to Denmark and Belarus, but 8-9 times out of 10 that team make's top 8 and they had rookie coach. I would say Swe had atleast evenly good roster as Finland who almost won tournament difference is coaching..

Shit, yes - replace Latvia with SUI.
But, what about Latvia?

Just kidding. It's a really entertaining debate. My answer today would be
Big 5, Czechs, Swiss and Germany.

However, that'll probably change tomorrow since I have a bias for the Slovaks and they have some emerging first rounders coming.

It is funny what kind of things people have time and energy to think about.

In the next Olympics, 2026, Seider and Stuetzle might be good enough to make any nation.

Seider are ready. He would even make Canada imo. Fantastic season by him so far. Stuetzle would not make Canada/Russia/US/Finland but i think he would make Sweden and Czech teams.

Soon Peterka and Reichel are ready. Germany is becoming better than ever.

If we look back, Germany only had 1 NHL line with Sturm - Goc - Hecht, all 3 good players.

But 1-2 years from now:

Stuetzle - Draisaitl - Kahun
Peterka - Sturm - Reichel

2 NHL lines. Yes i think Kahun will get back to NHL. Then Juggernaut Seider on the D.

They'd make Czech team easy. No argument there!

Not sure about Sweden today. I do think they'd both make it next time though. Sweden is deep in every spot. No weaknesses. You will cut several players that I'd love on my team!

Im not sure if Germany is better than Slovakia tbh

Slovakias has overall stronger D, thought Seider is the best.

Goalies its Germany. Grubaur, Greiss...

Forwards are even. Small edge to Germany becuse of Drai.

Drai is better than any Slovak.
Stuetzle is same level as Tatar but bigger potential.
Sturm and Panik is bascially the same.
Reichel, Peterka, Michaelis vs Studencic, Ruzica, Popospil. Small edge to Germany.
Kahun and Macek is top players in Euro Leagues. So is Hrivik and Cehlarik. Its same level on these 4 players.
Jurco - Hudacek - Lantosi vs Kuhnhackl - Loibl - Rieder. Very even, once again.

Greiss is retired from National Team. Halak is close to Grubeauer but Slovaks have the next few goalies IMO. It'd be different if Greiss were still playing for them.
