Long time from now lineup will change. But I trust goodrow and Bonino come playoff time to help us win

If they are playing together, they will still be a problem. Goodrow has been by far our worst forward.

I wouldn't mind replacing the entire 4th line tbh. I appreciate Bonino's willingness to get in front of pucks and will give him credit since hes done a decent job of putting his own fires out but I'd rather not see the matches get lit as often as they do. If you're going to keep him in, he needs to play with guys who can skate.

I’m watching laf and I see a guy that is all over the place. Hes making things happen He’s moving. He’s going to put up pts

Chytil I know is just in a slump he’s always hot and cold. He’ll get hot sooon.

Wheeler I think is a 4th liner these days.
And Kakko is not a top line player. Just not it. So an upgrade will have to be made. Whether that’s Kane or a trade deadline move or Othmann. Kakko can’t be in the top 6

Goodrow has statistically been their worst forward in both playoff runs. He’s last in every differential by a mile. We get clapped with him on the ice and it’s not getting better when the other teams get better

5 straight on the road, 6-1 overall. That’s the kind of thing that gives me a warm feeling running down my leg.

Seriously, you have to love the team defense. 18 goals against in 9 games with two stinkers thrown in. Much improved on face-offs, very good penalty killing and a power play that has returned to form.

I was one of the biggest skeptics here about Laviolette. He still looks like his underwear is a size too tight but you cannot argue with very good results. Now it’s time to send Carolina a message.

I'm sure there is plenty to gripe about in this game. Like Schneider and Wheeler's turnovers leading to goals against. Or Chytil trying to skate through 5 guys, instead of dumping the puck. Or many other mistakes made. But this was the last game of a long road trip,... and we did show perseverance coming back late in the 3rd for the 2nd time in consecutive games to win in OT.

And bottom line,... you can't have a better result than 10 pts in 5 road games.

Wait a minute we play at home thurs so only two days off and then fly out to Minnesota the following day? This is the toughest schedule in the league to start and we’re 7-2. Wild
They haven’t played a ton of really good teams ( but at least did best Vancouver who was playing well and Winnipeg is at least ok) but a long road trip is tough and sweeping it is great

Most teams get some depth scoring even if carried by their top guys.
Fox, Mika, Kreider, Panarin is enough to carry the team especially when they play good defense and get good goaltending. Guys like Laf, Chytil, Kakko, Trocheck will also score as well. It's only 9 games with a new coach and new system. They have played 7 of 9 on the road and just went 5-0-0 on a western road trip. Not easy. This team will score more as the season moves along.

Didn't like their second goal against, but thought Shesterkin made some good saves after. His stick just wasn't down on that wrap around.

We need some more production from the other half of the roster.

10 out of 10 points on a western/Canada trip is obviously best possible outcome. I think a lot of us would have been happy with 3 out of 5, so to come away with maximum points is awesome. The next 2 will be tough. It's a big travel back and then a big travel to Minnesota. They have a few days off now that should help.

Chytil hasn't been as strong lately. That hurts Laf as he is much better when the 2 of them is going.

Great road trip. This team should be at the top of the standings. I'm tired of losing the division to a bunch of scrubs in Carolina. Jersey is coached by a dinosaur and has some of the worst goaltending in the league. If we don't win the division I consider it a failure.

I still think the third line is playing ok just not getting luck in scoring.
And if we’re gonna rag on Kakko I’d just say he’s not the one causing the biggest problems 5v5 and keeping possession. Zibanejad constantly does flybys along the boards and can’t cycle the puck and Kreider makes soft play after soft play and then stands up straight to watch what he did. I dunno why he doesn’t fight along the boards anymore but can only assume it’s a getting old thing. Putting someone else with those two isn’t gonna help them not struggle to put on pressure 5v5. They gotta learn to play better or be broken up if we care that much about it right now

Idk. I don't want to get down. 7-2, 3rd in the whole league, but can't escape the house of cards feeling. The systems are better, the defending is better. However we're still being carried by three or four guys, and one of them produces only on the PP.
Idk I actually feel the opposite. I think overall they’ve been defending well, limiting chances overall and the details in the D zone have been good. Special teams have been good. There’s more structure to the game and it’s noticeable. It doesn’t feel like they’re scrambling all night and then popping in a few PP goals and asking Shesty to stop 35 and 20 high danger chances. Everything a tighter, there are chances but it hasn’t really felt anywhere near as bad to me as it did the last couple years. Teams are always going to love and die with their star players so I don’t look at that so much as a bad thing.

I think the past couple have been sloppy most likely due the fatigue and the toll the trip takes on them, but even still they played with structure, made big plays when they needed them and found ways to win. Idk for me to it feels more solid structurally even when they’re not at their best that makes it feel solid to me.

Also an aside, this wasn’t a cupcake of a road trip either not only with the travel but all of the opponents are strong teams. All should be playoff teams or on the bubble at least this year.

We still want to trade Panarin?
Panarin is the most talented player on this team which is not lacking for talent. He's also been the most inconsistent, mostly having to do with effort or more precisely lack of. He's the the Jeckyl and Hyde of hockey. We are seeing a full effort from him so far but I would like to see a little more against faster harder checking teams. We really haven't played anybody yet. If he's as good in November as he has been so far I'm quite hopeful but I have a shadow of doubt. When your best player doesn't play with consistent effort it poisons the entire team. That's been the story of Panarin so far. I don't think anyone here would question his immense talent. Are you questioning his inconsistent effort ???

I'm afraid Kakko isn't enough of a badass to balance the beta male Chi on Zibs line. Safe to say he's not a sniper or play maker either. Would'nt be surprised if Othmann grabs that role before the season is over. Leaving Kakko as trade fodder or 3rd line.

The guy has lead the team in scoring in each of his first 4 years here and he will very likely do it again this year. I call that consistent. People seem to just forget this fact. He's an important player and the teams most dynamic offense producer, sometimes that comes with risks. I think for most of his time with this team he has been really good. He had a bad playoff round last year just like everybody else not named Fox or Kreider. I expect much better in the playoffs this year. I'm also not buying the "we haven't really played anybody yet" bull. Every game in the NHL is tough especially when 7 of 9 have been on the road.
