His contract projection from AFP is 7 x 7.8

He will turn 30 in the middle of next season so you will be paying him until he is 36 (unless you are the flyers - you will give up assets to give him an extra year). He has not played a full season in 7 years.....Buyer beware

I think you misread the thread title, this is about Aaron Ekblad, not Cody Ceci. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets 7 years at 9M this summer

Depends on him. If he wants to cash in someone will offer him that (ie Sharks). If he wants to go to a competing team he will have to take less

Based on nothing more than the Canes historic Pokemon theory of defensemen (Gotta get them all!), I'm going to say Carolina.

Carolina certainly has a hole on RD with Burns unlikely to come back. Nikishkin replaces Orlov but Slavin needs a partner. Personally I like Karlsson there, but Ekblad would make for a great all situations pairing.

Imo Seth Jones will take Ekblad’s cap allocation. Ekblad, unless he signs for way below his actual market value, is gone July 1.

It looks like he's down to his last couple games in Florida, he's far and away the best D man on the market.

He would be a huge add for a lot of teams, especially in the eastern conference.

Personally if I were both Ontario teams I would take a run at him.

I don't know Tampa's cap situation but if they can do it I think they should too.

Basically the entire Atlantic should make an offer in my opinion.

I wonder if Columbus goes after him. The Athletic had 1 player each team should go after and Aaron Portzline suggested Columbus goes after him. I know some Columbus fans don't want him. I wouldn't know how I feel. He would bring experience(playoff experience is what I want which he has) Would play big minutes and if he doesn't play with Werenski he'll play with Mateychuk which would give them 2 solid top 2 pairings but on the other hand, is his play good because he's playing in Florida. Would he be the same in Columbus? Does he still have injury issues?

A very old Rob Blake did wonders for this team in the JT era. Would love to see something similar with Ekblad here.
