The PWHL Vancouver Thread

Abby Boreen is another young forward I’m super happy about this team selecting with lots of offensive potential and ability and will certainly get that chance here because she won’t be blocked by Marie Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey and will get more chances to get the puck

I’d also bet that Vancouver will be after Hannah Miller in free agency to flesh out the top six.

I haven't watched a hockey game in the Pacific Coliseum since the Giants left. The old barn was looking a little jaded at that point.

Are they investing any money in the place for the PWHL? If not, I hope they're betting a break on the rent from the PNE.
Used to have a regular game there, the ice is great.

What’s your top 6 Vancouver forward lines right now not including Hannah Miller , and I agree with you we have a solid shot to sign here

Nurse and Gardiner are obvious fixtures, and I think McQuigge and Boreen might be capable enough to do it. But Miller outscored them all by a decent margin last year and would be a big get.

Vancouver seems to have chosen to build from the net out, and they’ve selected a forward group that pretty much all were described as “tough to play against”. Seattle, conversely, seems to have elected for offensive firepower. Will be interesting to see how the two teams do.

I wonder how attendance will be this season?

My guess is that the season opener will be excellent and wonder as the season goes on how interest remains.

That will depend on how good the team is, how good the games and atmosphere is, and what ticket prices are like. I don't predict sell outs after the novelty wears off, but at WHL ticket prices and a good team they should draw reasonably.

Really hoping to wake up tomorrow to the news of Vancouver signing Hannah Miller

This feels like the most telegraphed move of free agency. There’s buzz they’ll be going after multiple top six forwards, so I think an interesting question is who beyond Miller might they be looking at.

Also wonder if they look at signing Rylind MacKinnon on defense. Vancouver’s top four looks pretty set, but still need some bottom pairing patrollers.

Today is the day , hopefully in less than 2 hours Hannah Miller will be representing her home town team in Vancouver!!

Gardner Mory wasting no time at all. Jeez. Sounds like we've signed Tereza Vanisova and are in negotiations with Michaela Cava, too. Between those two and Miller, that's a whole top-six line all at once.

Yeah gotta give Cara Gardner Morey so much credit .

She has had a plan to build this team from day one , building the team from the crease on out . And now we have a stacked team and we could very well have a shot at the Walter Cup in our First Season of Existence .

In Cara We Trust !!

Vancouver basically acquires a top line on its own on the first day of free agency. Pretty wild stuff.

Vanisova is also the leading PIM taker in the PWHL, and was part of its first fight.
