Where do you rank Connor Bedard as a player right now?

Um no.

NHL teams are going to use tape of Bedard in....the NHL.

Come on, bruh. You really think NHL teams are rewinding footage of stuff Bedard did against kids and forming game plans around it? That video coaches are busting into head coaches offices league wide yelling " you see this? Bedard scored four goals against this goalie who will never put a skate on an nhl rink and we just can't let that happen against our grown ass, veteran NHL goalie"?

I get it, you like Bedard, so does pretty much every fan of hockey, but volley after volley reinforcing something isn't gonna change opinions of players. Players actually living up to expectations does. There's so little actual NHL ice time of Bedard nobody can say this or that anyways to go along with a complete tire fire, dumpster scraper of a team he was blessed with because of the incompetent general manager he was stuck playing under who went from Bowman man servant to actual NHL team GM that living up to labels anointed him are going to be extremely challenging to begin with.

Let's come back to this thread in about six years when the Hawks fruits start to ripen from another decade of being the leagues foot rest, yes?
I’m not talking about coaches, I’m talking about future NHL star potential. What Bedard showed just 8 months ago before the NHL in combination with what he’s done so far in the NHL are what is evaluated.
You’ve come to the conclusion he won’t be any better than Kane based off of 30 games playing for one of the most hilariously poor offensive teams of our generation.

Won't be better then a first ballot hall of famer?

Is this real life?

Maybe he ends up worse, maybe he ends up better. Who knows at this point.

YOURE the one who stated very clearly there’s no way he will be any higher than a Kane level player based on the first 30 games of a future 1000+ game NHL career.

You’re right, is this real life?

Definitely in 100-110 range but hard to tell it's his 1st season and Hawks really don't have much support for him. Next year maybe they gain some bigger help through trades, drafting, and or free agency? Really, need help in alot of areas especially in defense, scoring, and goaltending. If he manages next year to be about a point per game he probably drop below 75 range.

You're gonna have to quote him on that, nothing I've seen from him in this thread remotely implies that it's impossible for Bedard to end up better than Kane.

He won't.

I've seen prime Gretzky, Mario, Sid, Ovi, and McDavid. Connor Bedard isn't on that level and there is nothing outside of winning an exorbitant amount of Cups, not individual awards, but Cups that will put him in that conversation and there's really nothing you or anybody else can convince me otherwise. There is nothing saying Bedard will have a better career then Hughes, Matthews and the other Kane tier players currently in the league other then aloof media and those who buy into the crap they are spewing. I want on ice results, and no offense, the Hawks are a laughing stock and will be in the foreseeable future. Bedard ain't making players around him better when he's on the ice and the paltry stats saying he does this and that are pretty much by default considering the Hawks, again, are a laughing stock.

It's like when Mike Trout was winning MVPs and people were proclaiming him this generational player and his WAR was pumped up on account of he was the only great player on his team. Then along came Ohtani and suddenly Trouts stats just wernt that impressive any more.

And again, when did a Kane level player suddenly become the yoke of mediocrity?

He could be better then Kane.

But generational? Nope.

This is why the generational label is worthless in this day and age.

So there is nothing Bedard can do, short of winning cups, to get into the same group as Gretzky, Mario, Sid, Ovi, and McDavid?

First of all, Ovi sticks out like a sore thumb in that group. He's the same level of borderline generational talent that Bedard has been projected to become. If Bedard doesn't fit with that group, not sure Ovi should.

Second, so if Bedard ends his career with, lets say, 3 Harts and 4 Art Ross', that's not enough because his team couldn't contribute enough to a cup win? Would 3rd line wingers on cup champion teams be better than him because they won a cup?

Before people take your posts seriously, I advise they look at your username, JFields (a disappointing young Chicago Bears player) OverBedard, as well as your custom title "Korchinski is a bust", Korchinski being a 19yo defenseman drafted 7th overall in 2022 who is currently in the NHL. Paints a picture of what you and your posts are all about.

We should probably let him get through a season and be an allstar player before we start throwing around the greatest names to ever play.

Now you’re contracting yourself. You literally said in the same post “he won’t” be better than Kane.

As you said yourself there’s “nothing anyone can do to convince you otherwise” so I’m not going to try, but this will be hilarious to bring up in 5 years.

Perhaps.

In about five years the Hawks might be turning the corner into a playoff team.

Sure and Crosby had almost double the next forward on his team still by seasons ends.

Crosby 102 pts.
Recchi 57pts

Bedards pace 69pts
Kurashev pace 46pts

Bedard is also pacing to be a -44
Crosby was a -1
I’m curious, why did you use full season paces for Kurashev and Bedard and not Recchi? He played at like a70pt pace that year

Because Kurashev and Bedard can hit those numbers. Doesnt mean they will. Could have more or less. Recchi hit 57. He cant get anymore. At teh end of the day he only contribute 57 points.

Kursahev may only end up with 30 and Bedard may hit 60. They could also both end up under 50. I just did pace because nothing is set in stone yet.

Recchi with 57 in 63
Palffy with 42 in 42
Armstrong 40 in 47
Lemieux 22 in 26
Malone 44 in 77
Leclair 51 in 73

For Dmen

Gonchar 58 in 75
Whitney 38 in 68

There’s no argument here. Crosby had far better teammates around him.

Crosby's best stretch of the season was with Armstrong and Hilbert on his line. Dude was a superstar in the league immediately, finishing 6th in league scoring on a terrible team.

Crosby paced for 103 points, a full 44 points ahead of Bedard's current pace. No amount of linemate magic is gonna close that gap.

That certainly remains to be seen. Greatest goal scorer in NHL history, top 10 player of all-time. Not sure how you can just pencil Bedard in for a career like that.

Ovi isn't the greatest goal scorer of all time. Not yet at least, but with his season so far, he might not get there.

I wasn't penciling in jack squat. I'm going off the thousands of projections for Bedard's career. Bedard has been considered on, or as close as you can be to being on, the level of guys like Crosby and McDavid. I personally think he's a half notch below that level, so right around where Ovi would land.

Now Bedard may very well not hit those projections. I'm not arguing against that possibility. I was arguing against JFields's comments that Bedard would need to win "an exorbitant amount of Cups" cups to be in that group of talent, no matter what his personal accomplishments.

Well Ovechkin has led the NHL in goals the most in NHL history, against larger talent pools than the runner ups. But I don’t know, I’m high on Bedard’s potential and I think it’s silly to say that he will land right around a top 10 player of all-time as if it’s just obvious he’s going to be that good. Not saying it is impossible though but it just seems a bit beyond best case scenario to me.
