When would you blow it up?

When would you commit to a complete rebuild?

This is completely off the charts insane. Two prospects (one with an illness that may have ruined his career who by the we literally just passed over in the draft), a 4th line guy and two first in what will be one of the single worst drafts of all time for Jack (the fact there are ads on our end makes it even more ludicrous). Seriously that's worse than almost everything proposed in the trade board cesspool.

ok

I know we need goaltending but have we given up on 6K?
Why 6K?

I do not think that we have give up on UPL, and we also have Portillo. Ullmark also looks solid, but he is not Gibson or Hellebuyck, in order to consistently play a lot and keep a high level, he needs a good competitor to share the games with him. Also, I would not want the goalie to be the main part of the deal if we were trading Eichel.

Sorry, I'm not following the why part? Why do I call him 6k? Or why am I mentioning him?

The first is he has 6 K's in his name and the latter is that we are talking hypothetical trades for Eichel where a goalie comes back. If you are rebuilding again than we might already have the answer to goaltender in 6k so I wouldn't be asking for a goalie from the Rangers.

Yeap, I didn't understand why many called him 6K, now I understand. :)

I agree, goalie should not be the main part of the deal, only if the conditional Rangers add Georgiev in the deal, for example, but mainly for cap or just a small addition.

Now. I'm trading Eichel to NYR for Zibanejad (hopefully he'll sign here, idk), Kakko, Miller & a 1st or 2nd, and then I'm trading Dahlin to LA for 2 or 3 of their best forward prospects because they have too many. I am keeping Sam Reinhart and re-signing Hall. Something like that.

But the key here is seeking out and acquiring *good-to-great* players and prospects in return. I'm not trading Eichel just because he's sad. If I cannot get a haul of 4 *good-to-great* players/prospects for one of the most elite centers in the entire league, I'm not trading him.

And I'm giving up on Dahlin right now before everyone else realizes he's bad and/or still thinks they can salvage him because he's being held back by Buffalo.

f*** it, make something happen.

Actually my ideas are good.
Zibanejad - 16GP - 4 points, 27 years, UFA 2022. We this guy on the team instead of Eichel? NO WAY!

Trade Dahlin to LA? To then say how we screwed up and maybe Byfield is not the guy, let's trade him and so on in a circle. Come on, this is ridiculous.

It could, yeah, if he becomes good. Last year, he was bad. This year, he is bad. I'm betting the under on him and trading him before things get worse.

Also, defensemen don't matter as much as forwards. I want better forwards, and I think I can use Dahlin to achieve that.

Are defenders not that important? Did you like Irwin and Davidson's performance? Dahlin's fine. He paired well with Borgen and was our best defender today. It would be foolish to trade it unless it is a huge overpayment.

QFT

Re: trading Dahlin, go search people's opinions of Hedman his first three years in the league--you'll notice a lot of "bust" being thrown around. Same for Ekblad starting his sophomore season. Opinions of both of these guys changed drastically as they matured

As for Eichel, can't believe I have to point out the ROR trade

His situation is reminding me of Tyler Myers.

I am now of the opinion that he will never be a Norris trophy candidate.

That he is not the second coming of Bobby Orr is already beyond obvious.

Can't say you didn't live up to your username with this post.

Can people please refrain from Mike Milbury level off the wall bullshit trade ideas? Seriously: If you have a trade idea ask yourself "If Mike Milbury was our GM would he do this?", and if the answer is "Yes" then you know it's a godawful idea.

*IF* Eichel...just goes full tilt I gotta get traded mode...and only if he does that...

I dont want to trade him to NYR or NYI. Get him to the other coast.

Turcotte/Vilardi/Kupari would be an interesting return. They wont trade Byfield. Turcotte will need another year in the minors, but thats OK. Tank this year and tank next year. LOL. Kupari is crushing it so far in Ontario.

Top 5 picks the next two years. Make them count. With a bunch of ELCs and newly minted RFAs we roll with 6 more years of Skinner and 2 more years or Okposo. Dump Hall/Staal/Montour for picks. Sign some good vet UFAs this year on 2 year deals (dont know if Alec Martinez would sign here 6per for 2 years, but that kind of veteran is what I'd like to see even at an overpay).

But getting three top-6 center options for Eichel would he a good get. But again this is if he goes full-on get me outta Buffalo. I dont want to trade him. Just saying LA is my choice for destination. You plan out the next 2 seasons accordingly, make the next two 1sts count, and sign UFAs smartly. Most importantly get whatever coaching support and veteran support to Dahlin.

If we roll with Eichel the next 6 years...you are hoping Reinhart sticks around, Mitts pans out into something, find a 2C somehow next season, find a 2LHD somehow next season, its just a mess. If I'm Eichel I'd want out.

Churn churn churn, thus the season
Churn churn churn rosters the reason

Our roster is totally jacked up. We are not a playoff team next season. They rolled the dice with Taylor Hall this offseason and thats all it was, a failed gamble. We are stuck with Skinner for 6 more years. There is not enough ELC talent to compensate for that. It's abortionable that its come to this. What's the easy roster solution next year? No goalies, need a 2C and 2LHD. Ullmark was a bargain and not anymore. Reinhart has been a bargain and his payday is due. Staal is a bargain 2C. No Pilut or McCabe so do you count on Bryson? Is Arttu gonna save the day? We are looking at a couple more #8 picks in 2022 and 2023 if we keep Eichel and continue with the patchwork. Lets tank better. We didn't do it right the last time.
