When Will We See the First 20m A Year Player in the NHL

2032 McKenna right after his bridge deal coming off the ELC

Celebrini has become comically overrated. He's not of the Bedard, Michov, McKenna, DuPont ilk in terms of generational potential

Your post is comical

I agree and that's why players in the NHL won't make as much as NFL players because the NHL doesn't generate as much money. I was pointing out that CFL players make similar to the average person, which seems fair and the other leagues generate more money by charging too much. Think about it how many NHL games can most afford to go to per year? I go every 2 or 3 years, but CFL games I go 4 or 5 per year.

The CFL is a substantially inferior product, not only from a skill perspective, but as an overall package. MLSE likely spends the Argos entire OPS budget

The timing isnt quite right for the next couple of years as the cap has to hit $100M before there can be a $20M player.
The cap and timing is aligning to make Matthews the 1st 20M player in the summer of 2028

DuPont is 15, relax and pump the brakes there. A lot can change in 3-5 years

Can you even build a winning roster paying even someone as great as McDavid 20m AAV?
I mean, you replace Nurse and McDavid last year with a 20M McDavid and an above average 1.75m dman and they're a similar team.

Replace Tavares and Nylander next year with a 20m McDavid and a decent middle 6 guy and I'm sure they're a winning team.

You could win with a 20m player... you just need them to be an mvp calibre player like McDavid. If you wsnt to be a cup contender, you also have to have good value elsewhere in your roster.
