When will Bouchard be considered elite?

So you're basically saying the Senators don't currently have a top-4 defenseman on the roster?
I got two things to say:
1)Your gif avatar is incredible! Holy shit
2)Bouchard might be the biggest difference in the dynamic in Edmonton. They've added some great support pieces, but Bouchard is such a legit threat it really splits the coverage and any additional space for McDrai will make a huge difference.
This thread should be closed. Bouchard is already elite and just 24. He is also having one of the greatest runs by a defenseman in playoff history. Has 3 game winners to boot.

Bouchard apparently admires Duncan Kieth like crazy and learned a lot from him while he was here. So now I'm an even bigger Oilers fan. Bouchard has been amazing this postseason, you're not being objective if you think otherwise

Only Bobby Orr has produced more points than Bouchard in the playoffs. That makes Bouchard a generational defenseman.

Bouchard doesn’t dominate the Canucks without mentorship from Duncan Kieth. Crazy that Keith can still dominate the Nucks post-retirement. His legacy lives on.

I was VERY critical of Bouchard early in his career. I believe I said he was basically going to be Dennis Wideman. That said, his game has evolved. Duncan Keith helped, Paul Coffey has helped, but the biggest difference maker is having Ekholm as a partner.
The Oilers have signed a lot of really dumb contracts and made a raft of mistakes. Ekholm was an exceptional trade and Hyman an exceptional signing. They are still first round exits without those 2. They balance out the offense only McDavid and Bouchard.
Now they need another guy to babysit Nurse.
