When does the Yzerplan start getting criticized?

I've watched quite a few of their games and they have to be one of the least impressive teams in the league so far.

I don't fully understand why because they got a good amount of talent. But they seem to always get outshot and barely hang on thanks to their PP (at least in the games I have watched).

Where is the sense of urgency to compete and win?

Is this thread really going to get bumped with "hmm", "curious..", "just asking questions!" types of troll posts after every Red Wings loss? Some of you are like climate change deniers when it's a snow day.

Chiarot's cap hit is $1.3 million AAV more than Jake Walman.

Rasmus Andersson's cap hit is 1.1 million AAV more than Jake Walman.

They have been on the struggle bus this season. You'll see on the DRWs board some fans are getting impatient with the coach.

I think theyve got a few wins they shouldnt have because theyre actually decently talented now. The penalty kill has absolutely killed them, moreso than the PP has helped them.

They've also been smoked with the flu. Kasper was called up on emergency conditions because so many guys were sick, hes played 6 games and guys are still missing games because theyre sick. Even looking this bad, they came out of the first 10 games with a really hard schedule with a decent record. Lots of season left.

They need to ship Petry to the moon, that would help a lot

It's not great, they come out dead every game.

Derek Lalonde is the worst coach in the NHL.

Yzerman needs to take a big swing. Pettersson is struggling mightily in Van. He’s only 25 and has played to the level of an elite 1C. He’s just starting on a huge contract. The risk is high but the reward could be like when Vegas got a devalued Eichel. It might be time for Yzerman to swing for the fences.

Vancouver is not trading the guy who over the last 2 years averaged 95 pts and is a good defensive played because he’s had a bad less than 10 games.

The cost would be so astronomical it would send us back into a rebuild before long. Vancouver isn't moving him for futures alone, they would want the best of our young talent in the NHL, a combination of our best prospects and future picks. Then we possibly miss the playoffs anyways.. would love to have him but don't see a way of making that happen realistically .

Understood. But Yzerman clearly needs elite talent to anchor the core he’s built. Those guys rarely come up in trade. With Pettersson’s clear (recent) struggles there could be a trade there. How else does Yzerman get his Eichel?

A lot of us are wondering the same thing

The urgency to compete and win is missing. The only things we ever hear from the organization are "be patient" and a bunch of dumb excuses (our schedule is hard, we have the flu, we won the 2nd period, we had more scoring chances, etc)

Yzerman has the longest leash in the NHL and its showing

Nope, they need to run with this guy, and it was from the moment he signed his contact that he fell off the map and his game tanked. There is zero chance I would give up Raymond plus for him, because for me, as of right now, Raymond is the better player. (Until EP gets his game back at least)
