I'm a real fan, win or lose the 3rd period was going to be critical in determining how the leafs would respond the rest of the series.

Why would you ever stop watching lmao

Simply I blame it on LTSD - Leafs Traumatic Stress Disorder ...

As I’ve mentioned in other threads, I stopped watching after the second. I don’t have live tv, so I was watching it at my Father-in Law’s place.

Went home and started getting updates. Couldn’t go back to watch, but when I got a text from a buddy that it was 4-3 with just over 7 minutes left, I just knew I made an epic mistake.

Quite honestly 5 mins into the third, the officiating wasn't getting any better and a couple more ignored calls and I knew I'd freak out and nobody needs that, the Leafs themselves were doing a pretty good impression of the keystone cops on their breakouts and weren't getting any better on creating pressure in the OZ. The 4-1 looked insurmountable and I had pretty much lost any hope and positivity.

Glad I was wrong, now finish them.

Promises were made (the 7.30p start made it go a bit later than usual), so I had to turn it off…but I kept the live GDT going, and rode the wave that way.

Then this morning, I watched the Joe Bowen broadcast of gold that some kind soul posted here. Not quite the same, but still a rush with the morning coffee.

Go Leafs Go!!

I don't criticize people who gave up. It was pretty painful for awhile. Problem is that if you don't invest, you miss the euphoric yell and the flipping of the bird at the television directed at the tampa players. No risk, no reward.

Dude it's Leafs playoffs hockey - even if you try to look away, you can't. This team sucks you back in no matter what. It could be 10-0 and I still ain't flipping the channel.

Better questions are is when did you think it was over? When did you think a comeback was possible?
For me it was the McCabe penalty.
Once they scored the 4-2 goal followed by the PP right after, I was thinking they had a chance.

4-1 I flipped to the Jays game, emotionally I wasn’t going to put myself through another heart break where they fail to capitalize, flipped back at 4-3. People shouldn’t have to apologize for flipping the channel, this team has choked away so many leads over the years or missed opportunities. So happy they came back and won.

I never shut off a Leaf playoff game. Just sat here on the laptop with one eye and one ear on the TV.

Yup, I never shut off a Leaf playoff game either. Even if we we're down 8 goals, I'll keep it on just because. But like you, I stopped paying full attention after the 2nd period. I sat behind my computer playing online chess with the volume turned down lower than it was before, ready to jump back if we scored. Then when we made it 4-2, I was focused again. :)

I thought it was over when I saw the 3rd replay of the Kerfoot goal and finally convinced myself that there was no way it could be considered a high stick and overturned.

I was pacing around waiting for it to go to review, Total shock once I saw it wasn't even close to a high stick.

With that much time remaining (after the 2nd) I wanted to see how they respond....maybe win the period and regroup. I will say I wasn't totally surprised they did come back and win it. When they made it 4-2 I really didn't celebrate - just had an "OK - this is good" vibe....4-3 was time for a cheer, then I knew it was game on.

I say it to my wife all the time.......with the talent this team has (same as the Jays), you can never count them out of a game, especially if it's within 3-4 goals (Jays are what 6, 7 down they can still pull one out?).

Also...so happy for Kerfoot. He takes a beating on here (justified at times), and I was even thinking to myself how it would be nice for him to start contributing on the scoresheet ( I think I said this to my FIL who I was watching the game with last in the 1st ).

As a fan I never turned it off. Going into the 3rd I just wanted us to come out with some life/jump. Just come out of the 3rd better than in game 1 when it felt like we just wanted to end the game. Drop a big hit or get the next goal just something to get some positivity going. Credit to the coaching staff and players for sticking with it even down 3 with 10 minutes to go.

I'm not superstitious BUTTTTTTTTTTT ... I've noticed this year, when the Leafs struggle to score, if I change the channel or go grab a beer they tend to score about 5 seconds before I come back into the room or change eh channel back ... so technically speaking, me changing the channel is why we won :D

I usually don't change the channel, my coping strategy is usually just to mute the TV for a while when the leafs start to lose. I definitely did that for more than a few minutes last night

i watched the first period, shook my head, and watched the Jays, as i'm too old, and my heart cant take the stress of seeing Holl never cover his guy in front of the net.
he was on for 3 of the 4 goals last night right?
tuned in with 13 mins left in the 3rd, just before the comeback

I'll be honest. The second the 2nd Tampa goal went in, I had to turn it off. They were playing like doggie dirt. But I did it because its worked before. I turn it off after they're down, and then the comeback starts (usually). I just get too worked up and I have to shut it down when they're losing and playing like crap. I'll keep checking my phone and when they start to come back, so do I. When Mo scored, I was back on and there til the end. Its just my thing. Fan since '70. Bleed Blue and White.
