Whats Wrong with Connor Mcdavid this Season Lowest PPG and Gpg Output in 7 8 Years for Him

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Does this season affect his legacy?

Not only is he behind Kucherov, Mack, and his own teammate in Draisaitl, but Kyle Connor is right there with him, and he's 28, so not exactly over the hill. Crosby was given a lot of shit for being beaten by the Sedins and Benn.

I mean, Kyle Connor is no joke

This is not an exact parallel by any stretch but I remember in the 2008 playoffs that the longer it went the more Evgeni Malkin struggled because perhaps he had never played that much hockey before at that high of a level. He came back the next season and absolutely dominated in the regular season and had a historic playoff run that ended with a Cup and a Conn Smythe.

McDavid has played a lot of high level hockey over the past year and more, I think he's just worn down a little bit but I would not bet against him after this summer.

I think it's fair to say he's having a season similar to Crosby's 2015 season. Considering many consider Crosby the fifth greatest player of all-time, I don't think 2015 hurt his legacy much, if at all.

Other than TOR, the teams I watch the most are EDM and WSH.

There have been times where McDavid hasn't looked like himself. He had a slow start and then got hurt. After that, he was playing great and producing at a high clip for a while. The week of the Garland incident, he was playing well until the incident. After the suspension, he really struggled (by his standard) for some time.

As of late, he does seem to be playing better. He had a strong game against DAL (a top contender) and looked really good against BUF despite only recording one point. He does have eight points in his last five games.

One frustrating thing is the number of times he sets up a teammate for a great scoring chance and the player who gets the chance doesn't score. I don't know what happened to Hyman this year, but he's a shell of what he was last year in terms of goal scoring. RNH is also having a down year offensively and the scoring depth on that team is pretty terrible (Perry is almost 40 and is fifth on EDM in goals).
