What's up with the Avalanche jerseys?

What is this design? Some 20 years ago they last won the cup and their jerseys were quite nice actually, now especially the home jerseys are just, well, ugly.

I mean, they play beautiful hockey, but my eyes still hurt from watching it.
A lot more of that funky blue that replaced the black.

Personally those reverse retro Nordilanche jerseys are beautiful.

For me it's the silver that makes the jersey look dull/dirty. Changed it to white and it looks sharper imo.

I’m seeing double! Four MacKinnons!

Because around here state pride is kind of a big thing, that's what the "C" represents. The logo was around a long time, but outside of NHL fans most people had no idea what it represented. Kind of like some of these alternate logos for NHL teams you see on the reverse retro jerseys. Show someone who isn't a hockey fan the logo they have on the Knights red jersey and ask which team is that and I bet 98% of them have no clue. The bigfoot logo was kind of like that.

It was a shoulder patch, not the primary logo. It was unique and actually makes sense for a team named the Avalanche. Putting your state or country’s flag on your jersey and calling it a day is just lame. This goes for the Flames too.

I would be interested to see the Avs jerseys with the reverse retro burgundy pants. I feel that'd be better than the blue. That's my only issue. I don't care for the blue pants/gloves etc.

This is the rare case where angled shoulder stripes work better than horizontal.

That being said, it's a pretty minor difference. Are you just reacting to the slight lightening of the colors? The blue pants?

Comparing just the two photos provided in this thread (I'm quoting you before getting off page 1 so I don't know if there are any more), the changing of the color of the pants (and gloves) from black to blue is what sticks out the most to me. The lightening of the color isn't my preference, but it's very minor, as you said. I also liked the "bigfoot" shoulder patch better than the C, but the C is from the Colorado state flag so I don't really mind it.

Always thought the Avs in dark uniforms had too many colors. Black pants and helmet with burgundy jersey with a lot of light blue in it and almost no black in the jersey.

If the striping was different and not a big amount of blue the black helmet and pants work.

As for the change to the blue pants and helmet it seems odd to see lighter pants and helmet with a dark jersey. Typically the helmet and pants are darker than the jersey.

The foot never made sense to me. The sasquatch is from the Pacific northwest and the yeti hails from the Himilayas. Colorado has no part in bigfoot lore.
The C also gives a nice little nod back to the Rockies, who also had the Colorado state C as their secondary logo;

The foot lost all meaningful significance once Howler bit the big one, anyways, so it was basically just an artifact. The C looks better and ties more to the location than a mascot that's been retired since 1999.

Just give me more of their Nordiques jersey, that's really all I want. One of the two best jerseys I've seen in a very long time.
